Did you catch that?

Fresh photos and videos from the royal family’s official social media accounts are nothing new. From monthly recaps to behind-the-scenes moments at royal events, they’re always keeping followers in the loop. But a recent post stood out—and not because of what I saw, but what I heard (or rather, didn’t hear).

On Wednesday, July 9, the Palace shared a quiet video of King Charles walking through the expansive South Garden of Windsor Castle alongside French President Emmanuel Macron. It’s a calm, scenic moment, just the two leaders strolling and chatting. But here’s the thing: the video is completely free of the usual background music or editing. All we hear is the natural sound of the garden and their distant conversation.

The Palace simply captioned it, “A walk through the beautiful South Garden on the grounds of Windsor Castle…”

Normally, royal videos are polished with music or a voiceover—especially on Instagram and X. Unless it's a speech or performance, we rarely get to hear the real audio from these moments. So this simple, unfiltered clip felt surprisingly intimate and intentional.

In addition to the video, Buckingham Palace also shared a few snapshots from the visit, including a historical tidbit for royal history fans. One photo shows King Charles and President Macron admiring a carriage from the Royal Mews. According to the caption, it’s a Charabanc gifted to Queen Victoria by King Louis-Philippe of France in 1844.

The visit itself is notable: President Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron arrived in the U.K. on July 8 for a three-day State Visit—the first hosted at Windsor Castle in over a decade, and the first official visit from an EU leader since Brexit. In other words, this wasn’t just a garden stroll—it was a moment of quiet diplomacy.
