It’s only been a couple of days since King Charles, 75, was discharged from The London Clinic after receiving medical treatment for his enlarged prostate. But that didn’t stop the monarch from logging onto social media to make a big announcement.

Earlier today, the king announced on the royal family’s IG account that the “Big Help Out” event, a national volunteer initiative established by some of Britain’s best-known charities, is coming back in the summer of 2024. Alongside a photo of himself sporting a navy blue suit, King Charles wrote, “I am delighted to support the return of the Big Help Out in 2024.”

He continued, “This summer, between June 7th and June 9th, there will be another opportunity to join so many dedicated volunteers in giving time to a worthy cause of their choosing, whether that is supporting a local food bank, tending a community garden, spending time with a vulnerable person or teaching a skill to a young person.”

Last year, Kate Middleton, Prince William and their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, visited the 3rd Upton Scout Group in Slough, England, to participate in their “Big Help Out” event. In a series of photos shared on the Prince and Princess of Wales’s Instagram account at the time, the royal fam can be seen helping out with various tasks, from shoveling dirt to finger painting.

This latest announcement comes after King Charles posted a surprise message on social media following his hospital exit. After His Majesty was photographed leaving the hospital with his wife, Queen Camilla, the royal went on Instagram to share a few kind words to royally-obsessed fans

Paired with a photo (as seen below) of the monarch smiling and waving to photographers outside of the medical facility, the royal wrote, “Thank you to all those who have sent their good wishes during The King’s hospital stay. His Majesty is delighted that his diagnosis is having a positive impact on public health awareness.”
