Following his release from the hospital, King Charles showed his gratitude to well-wishers with a special surprise message on social media.

On January 29, the monarch, 75, was photographed leaving The London Clinic with his wife, Queen Camilla, 76, after being admitted for three days to receive medical treatment for his enlarged prostate

In a new photo shared by the royal family on their official Instagram page (and seen below), His Majesty is smiling and waving to photographers standing outside of the hospital.

In the caption of the post, the royal family wrote to fans, “Thank you to all those who have sent their good wishes during The King’s hospital stay. His Majesty is delighted that his diagnosis is having a positive impact on public health awareness.”

We first learned about the king’s medical diagnosis on January 17 when Buckingham Palace released a full statement about the king shortly after the news of Kate Middleton’s previously unannounced abdominal surgery broke.

The official statement (shared by People) read, “His Majesty’s condition is benign, and he will attend hospital next week for a corrective procedure. The King’s public engagements will be postponed for a short period of recuperation.”

An unnamed royal source told the publication that the monarch wanted to share his diagnosis to “encourage men who may be experiencing symptoms to get checked.”

Before the king was discharged from the hospital, Princess Catherine, who was recovering from surgery at the same hospital, was also sent home. Kensington Palace revealed in a new statement, “The Princess of Wales has returned home to Windsor to continue her recovery from surgery. She is making good progress.”

Glad to see King Charles and Princess Catherine are both doing well.
