Why Kelly Ripa Was Told to Keep Her Hands in Her Pockets on ‘Live’ Today

Leave it to Kelly Ripa and her team to find new ways to spice up an outfit and change up her usual look. During today’s episode of Live with Kelly and Ryan, rather than pairing her dress with a belt (as she often does on the show), the 50-year-old TV personality was told to use her pockets to her advantage. Allow us to explain.

On Wednesday, Live’s producers shared a behind-the-scenes clip of Ripa and her co-host, Ryan Seacrest, leaving their dressing rooms to start the show. As the mother of three was walking down the hallway, she revealed to the camera the directions her stylists had given her for her green Adam Lippes dress.

“Oh wait I’m supposed to utilize my pockets,” she said as she made her way towards coffee man Dan. “Dan, I was told to utilize my pockets today in lieu of a belt.” How clever. In the next portion of the clip, Ripa is seen on stage looking straight into the camera with her hands (you guessed it) in her pockets. To remind herself once again, she states, “Gotta utilize my pockets.” We love the commitment.

This isn't the first time we’ve seen Ripa don a dress with pockets. In fact, just last week, the All My Children alum rocked her Tom Ford Hooded Ribbed Cashmere-Blend Dress (for the second time). Made in Italy, the midi dress includes pockets, a cozy hood and a pencil skirt.
