Kelly Ripa, 52, must've been feeling nostalgic this weekend, because the Live with Kelly and Mark co-host just shared a major throwback, from when she and her hubby, Mark Consuelos, 52, attended the White House Correspondents’ Dinner over 10 years ago.
“Just a couple of nerds at the nerd prom,” Ripa wrote. This photo was captured in 2012, when the couple attended a dinner afterparty hosted by the Bloomberg/Vanity Fair White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA).
In the photo, we see Ripa and Consuelos posing side-by-side, with Consuelos hugging his wife. The Generation Gap game show host wears a patterned floral dress, while Consuelos sports a black tuxedo.
Apparently, Ripa references this dinner in her memoir, Live Wire, because a number of people noted the reference in the comments section of her post. For instance, TV personality Carson Kressley wrote, “This story from the book still makes me LOL.” And Andrea Lizcano, who works as a digital producer on Live, commented, “One of my fav stories from the book.”
Ripa's book is full of tell-all moments, and the story that friends keep referring to might be one that The Daily Mail highlighted in an article from September 2022.
In an exclusive about Live Wire, Daily Mail contributor Caitlyn Becker wrote, “Through her A+ storytelling, those you-had-to-be-there moments are brought to life with zeal, making readers feel the very same white hot rush of shame sluicing through them that Kelly did…as if they too had a tampon fly out of their rhinestone encrusted Judith Lieber bag at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
