Katie Holmes Proves Tiger-Print and Magenta Lipstick Is Oh-So Holiday Chic

For Katie Holmes, holiday attire doesn’t mean glittery apparel and a bold red lip. When the 40-year-old Dawson’s Creek star stepped out for a night of not one, but two events, she went for an unexpected, but still festive ensemble that felt very her.

Holmes tapped her stylist, Allison Bornstein, hairstylist, Bradley Irion, and makeup artist, Genevieve Herr, to help her get ready for last night’s Ulla Johnson x Bergdorf Goodman dinner and Amazon Fashion Decked and Dazzled Pop-Up Store opening. Since she was kicking the night off by dining with Ulla Johnson, Bornstein dressed Holmes in a black velvet dress from the designer.

Holmes modeled the full look in a video Irion posted on Instagram.

Holmes’s LBD featured a super low neckline that hit right above her belly button and a midi A-line skirt. Sadly, that exact design is not available to purchase, but the Dress the Population Alicia mixed media midi dress is a slightly more demure option ($198).  She paired her frock with Nili Lotan’s Rosalin tiger-print cotton-velour coat ($747), which is currently 50 percent off. For the record, we’re officially lusting over it.

The actress completed the look with Laura Lombardi XL Classic hoop earrings ($68), her usual tangle of gold necklaces, black pointed-toe heels and a tortoise-shell handbag.

Her hair and makeup for the evening turned out to be just as unexpected as her tiger-print coat. Herr used Gucci’s 404 Cassie Magenta Rouge à Lèvres Satin Lipstick ($42) on Holmes’s pout and Irion added volume and length to her hair with some handy extensions.

Call us crazy, but we’re suddenly tempted to swap our red and metallics holiday party staples for some ’70s-inspired animal prints and magenta lip color.
