We know it’s hard to believe, but Katie Holmes’s daughter, Suri Cruise, is an actual teenager. And in a rare interview, the Dawson’s Creek star finally gave us some insight into the 14-year-old.
While speaking to InStyle, the 42-year-old actress, who usually remains tight-lipped about her daughter’s life, gave fans a tiny glimpse into Suri’s personality. “I love her so much. My biggest goal has always been to nurture her into her individuality,” Holmes told the outlet. “To make sure she is 100 percent herself and strong, confident and able. And to know it. She came out very strong—she's always been a strong personality. She'll pick an activity and work her butt off until she's really good at it. Then she's like, ‘OK, I'm going to try the next thing.’ She's very focused and a hard worker.”
Holmes also opened up about the struggle of raising Suri as a young, single mother in the spotlight. “I did recently see some fan site [about her] posted when she was a baby,” Holmes said. “And it was very intense. We were followed a lot when she was little. I just wanted her outside, so I would walk her around to find parks at 6 in the morning when nobody would see us. But there's one video where I'm holding her—she was 2 at the time—and she starts waving at the cameras. She's pretty special.” Comfortable in front of the camera? She probably gets that from her mother.
The Batman Begins star and the teen have been quarantining together in their New York City apartment, where they also celebrated Suri’s birthday back in April.
