Royal Butler Says Kate Middleton Will Wish Meghan Markle a Happy Birthday This Week

Those "secret peace talks" must be working

Just as one royal birthday has come and gone, another is right around the corner. So, who’s next to blow out the candles? None other than Meghan Markle. The Duchess of Sussex is set to celebrate her 44th birthday on Monday, August 4 and while there haven't been any official details about how she plans to spend the day, we do have a few clues, thanks to former royal butler Grant Harrold.

Speaking on behalf of online bingo site, Heart Bingo, Harrold, who served in the royal household between 2004-2011, shared his thoughts on what fans can expect—including how the royal family might acknowledge the day.

“As far as the Royal Family congratulating or wishing a happy birthday, I believe the King and Queen will wish her a happy birthday," Harrold shared. "I think Catherine as well, but Catherine might do it on behalf of her and William."

When it comes to gift-giving, Harrold says Meghan can likely expect something personal and thoughtful from Prince Harry. "He’ll go down the route of buying her jewelry or taking her away on holiday. I’m sure it will be something extra special.”

And while things between Meghan and the rest of the royals have been complicated, Harrold doesn’t think that rules out the possibility of gifts—or at least some polite acknowledgment.

“I still think gifts do get exchanged,” he said. “Because the thing with the Royal Family is that when it comes to politeness and manners, they are top of the game, so I do think they will still honor it. That’s my feeling.”

The real question is: Will fans get a glimpse of the celebration?

“I think we'll see something on social media,” Harrold predicted. “I’m sure we'll see Harry do something. They'll try to make people aware it's her birthday, which is normal that's what everyone likes to do because it's nice to get birthday wishes."

Considering how Meghan and Harry have marked their children's birthdays earlier this year, it’s not far-fetched to think something similar might be on the way for Meghan’s big day.

So, while we wait for the weekend to roll around, keep an eye on your feed. A sweet birthday tribute could be just one post away.
