I have to admit—I’d almost given up on sending out royal mail. On the occasion of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s 10th wedding anniversary, right on schedule, I penned a heartfelt note. 10 years! It was a big deal, an occasion to celebrate. But after sending my note in early April to the U.K., it was nearing August and I had yet to hear back.
But then, there it was: A letter postmarked “Royal Mail” sitting regally amongst my bills. It was even stamped with the Royal Cypher of Queen Elizabeth II and had a return address that simply stated Kensington Palace. Impossible to miss.
I peeled it open: There, inside was a beautiful typed note from William and Kate, thanking me for thinking of them on their special day. It read: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were touched by your kind message on the occasion of their 10th wedding anniversary. This was most thoughtful of you and greatly appreciated by Their Royal Highnesses who send you their warmest thanks and best wishes.”
That’s not all. On the front was a glossy unreleased photo of Kate and William holding hands—very similar to one of the official portraits they shared on April 29 with Kate in a Ghost London dress. The only difference between the ones they posted to their @dukeandduchessofcambridge account is that, in the pic featured on the card, they’re looking straight at the camera.
Frame-worthy? I am Royally Obsessed, after all. At the very least, it’s inspired me to keep up with my royal correspondence. (Save the date, Prince Harry’s birthday is coming up next.)
