Body Language Expert Analyzes Kate Middleton’s Major Shift: ‘She Is Completely Comfortable’

Body language expert Darren Stanton analyzed photos of the Princess of Wales, 43, interacting with the Irish Guards and revealed that she showed a major shift in body language, especially when compared to previous outings. 

“The first thing is, we don’t see any signs or nerves,” Stanton said (on behalf of Betfair Casino). “Some of the things we might have seen a decade ago, she used to bite her lip, put her hands in her pockets, were signs of this. What we’re seeing today is open palm gestures. We never ever see her fold her arms, which is a classic defence gesture, no fidgeting, just very open gestures. She also doesn’t cross her legs over, her feet are quite far apart.”

The body language expert continued, “The more space we occupy physically shows how confident we are feeling. It might be quite intimidating to a lot of people, but she takes this in her stride. There’s a clear mutual respect here, and doesn’t feel she is above anyone else there. This comes over in her interactions in body language.”

Stanton went on to share details about her facial expressions, adding, “We also see great eye contact, which lasts at least five seconds, telling us she has a great internal level of confidence speaking to people she has just met. She gives authentic smiles, with crows feet and laugh lines at the side of the eyes.”

He continued, “Her whole face is also engaged, which again shows she is completely comfortable and grounded. Kate’s embracing the day wearing green, definitely a marker of how important she feels the event is. Overall, she totally embraced this, and took part in all the festivities. She comes across super confident, with no signs of nerves or being out of her depth.”

She’s transforming into a queen right in front of our eyes.
