Wardrobe malfunctions are a normal part of life, and when they happen, you just have to go with the flow, something Jessica Simpson knows all too well.

As the multihyphenate (she's a singer, actress, designer and entrepreneur) was performing some of her hit songs like “I Think I’m In Love With You” and her newest single “Fade”, the upper part of her pink lace-up dress slipped down, revealing her lingerie underneath. The mishap, however, wasn’t all that bad because her long locks and jacket mostly covered her upper body, and Simpson was able to seamlessly pull her dress back into place, meaning a lot of people didn’t catch the faux pas in real time. For those who did, however, the Dukes of Hazzard star had a flawless response.

“Of course, I had a malfunction here and everywhere, but it’s okay. I think my boobs stayed in, so it’s okay,” she joked with the Today hosts afterwards.

Nagging wardrobe issues aside, the performance was just Simpson’s second in nearly 15 years, and while the music star was very excited to hit the stage, she also admitted that she was quite nervous after such a long time away. “Today it was like, ‘Okay, get out of your head. Get out of your head. Who cares if your shoe falls off? Who cares if you forget a lyric?’” she elaborated, adding, “Honestly, it’s just about being able to be up there and be vulnerable and that feels really beautiful.”

Earlier this year, Simpson made her official return to the stage during the Season 23 finale of American Idol on May 18, 2025, where she performed her new single, "Blame Me," and a duet of her 2005 hit "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'" alongside former contestant Josh King. After the performance aired, she briefly spoke with Extra, simply saying, “That's a really long time.”

Way to handle it like a pro, Jessica.
