We’ve all heard the phrase "beauty is pain," and it’s no secret that people go through a lot of discomfort in the name of looking good. Whether it's enduring the agony of a Brazilian wax, squeezing into uncomfortable high heels or in Jenna Ortega’s case, wearing a literal glass dress.

The 22-year-old star of Netflix's Wednesday made quite an impression during her appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on March 25. She showed up to promote her new movie Death of a Unicorn in a jaw-dropping red dress made entirely of individual pieces of glass. The dress was as stunning as it was unconventional but, as you can imagine, it wasn’t exactly the most comfortable piece to wear.

When Colbert complimented her on the eye-catching dress, Ortega candidly admitted, “I’m not going to lie, sometimes there are pieces of glass that are poking my ass every time I sit.” Yeah, we can definitely picture that. Colbert jokingly suggested they’d need a medic team on hand, to which Ortega quipped, “I feel uncomfortable and extremely comfortable at the same time.”

Styled by Enrique Melendez, Ortega was wearing the scarlet mosaic mini from Oscar de la Renta's Fall 2025 collection with matching dark red peep-toe stilettos and a simple gold necklace. Her hair even kept in line with the red theme, as it was dyed a rich burgundy.

During the interview, Ortega also teased a bit about the upcoming season two of Wednesday, which is due out by the end of 2025. The show is already making waves with the addition of none other than Lady Gaga, who will make a guest appearance. While Ortega kept details about Gaga’s role under wraps, she did share an amusing behind-the-scenes moment.

Ortega described how the set was transformed when Gaga arrived. "We had a normal functioning set, and I remember pulling up to work the day of and suddenly there was like truck after truck after truck," she recalled. “I went to my tent to hang out and they replaced my dirty tent with like brand-new tents."

"They gave me a barber's chair, fancy water, everything… we really did it up for her," Ortega added.

Can't wait for the new season—and more killer looks from Ortega—to drop.
