Hilary Duff Just Shared Her One-of-a-Kind Proposal Story

Hilary Duff’s proposal story sounds like it was pulled directly from an episode of The Bachelor.

The 31-year-old actress recently appeared on The Talk, where she discussed the moment her new fiancé, Matthew Koma, popped the question.

“I came home from work on a random Tuesday, and he’s like, ‘Let’s go for walk, let’s go check out this park,’” she said. “And we were living in Williamsburg, and I was like, ‘I’m so tired.’ We just started Game of Thrones, and I’m like, ‘I want to eat dinner in bed and watch Game of Thrones.’ And he’s like, ‘No, no. Let’s go on a walk.’”

Although she didn’t suspect anything at first, that all changed when Koma presented her with a handmade book, detailing their love story. “So, we go, we find this gorgeous park, and he presents me with this book that he said he’s been working on for a while. And he’s like, ‘It’s our story,’” she continued. “And he had this amazing guy, Shane, do all these illustrations.”

When Duff opened a small compartment that contained the ring, everything fell into place. “It was so sweet. It was so sweet,” she added. “And he got down on one knee, and he’s like, ‘I forgot everything I’m supposed to say, but you’re my best friend.’ It was so sweet.”

Duff and Koma met in 2015, just one year after the actress split from her ex-husband, Mike Comrie. In 2018, the couple announced they were expecting their first child and welcomed a baby girl, Banks Violet Bair, in October of that year. Koma popped the question in May 2019.
