Drake Just Dedicated His ‘Billboard’ Music Award to This ‘GoT’ Character

It’s been four days since season eight, episode three of Game of Thrones premiered on HBO, but that doesn’t mean Drake is over the action-packed Battle of Winterfell.

Last night, the 32-year-old singer attended the 2019 Billboard Music Awards at the Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, where he was honored with 12 trophies. During his acceptance speech for Top Billboard 200 Album for Scorpion, Drake joked about needing “a glass of Champagne” before calling out this week’s GoT hero.

“Hey, shout-out to Arya Stark for putting in that work last week,” he said. “Hey!”

The “God’s Plan” singer is referring to Sunday night’s episode of GoT, which featured (spoiler alert!) Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) slaying the Night King (Vladimir Furdik). While unexpected, Arya wasn’t the only person Drake honored in his speech.

The musician went on to thank his team for bringing his vision to life, adding, “Thank you to everybody who gave me their time, their energy, stayed away from their family and friends while we were trying to complete this. I always had a dream of doing a double album and I finally did it so now I’ll never do it again.”

During the ceremony, Drake took home 12 awards: Top Artist, Top Male Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Streaming Songs Artist, Top Song Sales Artist, Top Radio Songs Artist, Top Rap Artist, Top Rap Male Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album, Top Rap Album and Top Streaming Song (Video). The singer officially dethroned Taylor Swift for the most Billboard Music Award wins of all time, with a total of 27.

Why brag about breaking a record when you can give a special shout-out to Arya Stark, amirite?
