Chip and Joanna Gaines just shared a special social media tribute in honor of a momentous milestone.
Earlier this week, the Fixer Upper stars celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary by embarking on a tropical vacation without their five kids: Drake (16), Ella (14), Duke (12), Emmie Kay (11) and Crew (3). Joanna documented the trip on her personal Instagram account and shared a video montage featuring never-before-seen photos and footage of the couple enjoying their alone time.
The clip features rare selfies and vacation footage set to James Taylor’s “Mexico.” It includes silly clips of Joanna jumping into the pool, Chip lounging in the shade and the HGTV couple dining at a beachfront table.
Joanna captioned the post, “18 years. Thankful to be on this adventure with you—happy anniversary @chipgaines [red heart emoji].”
Fans immediately flooded the comments section with well wishes for the happy couple. One follower wrote, “Happy Anniversary to you both. What an inspiration you are.” Another added, “Your marriage is an adult today!!! Haha but you all sure know how to keep it looking oh so young and in love. I adore you. Cheers to another 18+.” Someone even said what we’re all thinking: “Beautiful! I was worried you were going to hit your head on the side of the pool though at that one part.”
Joanna previously revealed that the secret to her and Chip’s successful marriage is finding joy in small moments. “I’m more operational [and can] click into, like, a robotic mode and just show up and do the thing and forget the why a lot of the times—forget the joy. To find the joy in that moment,” she said during Oprah Winfrey’s Super Soul special, according to People. “And Chip is always teaching me if you’re not having fun, if you're not enjoying and savoring these moments, then why are you doing it? And he also pushes me to do it.”
