Busy Philipps Explains Her On-Again, Off-Again Journey With Pink Hair

To dye your locks a trendy color or keep them a standard blonde? That is the question. In fact, it’s one Busy Philipps has been oscillating between for years.

Most recently, the 40-year-old Dawson’s Creek alum traded in her bright blonde ’do for a light strawberry lemonade color. It’s fresh, it’s on-trend and it’s surprisingly neutral. When we recently sat down with Philipps to chat about her longtime Michaels partnership during a lovely crafternoon (yep, an afternoon of crafting), we asked what sparked her hair shift.

As Philipps pointed out (and we actually noticed, since we’ve been vibing with her pink hair journey for a while) this isn’t the first time she’s rocked pink locks.

“I’ve gone back and forth on the pink and the rose gold for several years now,” she explained. But some iterations of her rose-hued tresses have been less noticeable than others. “Actually, the first time I did it, no one even noticed. It was when I was on Cougar Town and I had to get approval from our executive producers. I just did some pink ends,” she recalled.

Philipps went on to reason that she typically follows her heart when it comes to going for a bolder hair color. “It’s just been the last three years [that I’ve been dying it pink] and I go back and forth depending on how I feel. There’s no thought behind it. I just like it,” she said. Same, Busy. Same.

All we can say is creative hair colors for the win. Now, excuse us while we text our colorist…
