King & Queen of Bhutan Share Rare Photos of Royal Children

Drop everything you’re doing, because the royal family of Bhutan just shared rare photos of King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Queen Jetsun Pema’s two children: Prince Jigme Namgyel (5) and Prince Jigme Ugyen (1).

Today, the royals shared a series of never-before-seen pictures on the queen’s official Instagram account (@queenjetsunpema). The portraits were taken on the grounds of Lingkana Palace in honor of Prince Jigme Ugyen’s 1st birthday. *Cue the confetti*

The slideshow features the birthday boy lounging on a blanket that’s shaded by a colorful tree. The caption read, “His Royal Highness Gyalsey Ugyen Wangchuck amidst the spring blossoms at the Lingkana Palace gardens. His Royal Highness was born on 19th March, 2020. His Royal Highness received the name Jigme Ugyen Wangchuck on 30th June 2020, which was the auspicious birth anniversary of Ugyen Guru Rinpoche.”

Other photos show the family posing on the same blanket. In these, Prince Jigme Ugyen is accompanied by his mom and his older brother (who’s first in line to the throne).

“On the joyous and most special occasion of the first birth anniversary of His Royal Highness Gyalsey Ugyen Wangchuck, we are honoured to share a special set of Kupars of the Royal Family,” it read.

Oh, and how could we forget about the King of Bhutan, who also made a surprise cameo?

Cheers to more family photo shoots!
