FX Drops Trailer for ‘American Crime Story: Impeachment’ (& We Barely Recognized Sarah Paulson & Beanie Feldstein)

Ryan Murphy's next big project is hitting small screens sooner than we thought.

FX dropped the first full-length trailer for American Crime Story: Impeachment, which centers on the Clinton presidency and Monica Lewinsky scandal. The footage gives fans the first glimpse of Sarah Paulson’s Linda Tripp, Beanie Feldstein’s Lewinsky and Clive Owen's Bill Clinton. All we have to say is, we’re seriously impressed.

Watch the trailer below.

FX’s official synopsis reads, “Impeachment: American Crime Story examines the national crisis that led to the first impeachment of a U.S. President in over a century through the eyes of the women at the center of the events: Monica Lewinsky, Linda Tripp and Paula Jones. All three were thrust into the public spotlight during a time of corrosive partisan rancor, shifting sexual politics and a changing media landscape.”

The upcoming series, which is set to hit FX on September 7, is based on the Jeffrey Toobin book, A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Sex Scandal that Nearly Brought Down a President. Murphy told The Hollywood Reporter in 2018 that he bumped into Lewinsky at a party.

“I told her, 'Nobody should tell your story but you, and it's kind of gross if they do,'” Murphy said. "“If you want to produce it with me, I would love that; but you should be the producer and you should make all the goddamn money.'”

And signed on she did. In 2019, FX took the stage at the Television Critics Association's summer press tour to announce the official theme of season three, and revealed that Lewinsky would executive produce along with Murphy, Paulson, Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Brad Falchuk and others.

In addition to Paulson, Feldstein and Owen, American Crime Story: Impeachment also stars Edie Falco as Hillary Clinton, Billy Eichner as The Drudge Report founder Matt Drudge and Annaleigh Ashford as Paula Jones.

Good thing we only have to wait a few short weeks.
