The things we do for fashion

Adele had her audience in stitches with a confession about her wardrobe. While performing at her “Weekends with Adele” show on Friday, June 1, the songstress shared that her shapewear was a little bit too snug—to the point that she feared she might be close to passing out.

"I had to put these Spanx on that were a size small," Adele told the audience of her “Weekends with Adele” show while sitting on a piano bench in a video shared on TikTok. “It was like pumping sausage meat.”

Despite the very relatable difficultly in putting on her shapewear, the powerhouse singer revealed that she “managed to get into them.”

“It was so stressful and I was contemplating maybe I don’t go on in a pair of Spanx tonight, but I was like ‘Oh no, that’s too risky,’” the Grammy-award winner explained.

The British soloist continued her humorous rant and joked about the real fear that her circulation might get cut off mid-performance.

"It's made me look great but I’m nervous maybe my blood’s going to get cut off or something,” she said. “So, if I pass out halfway through the show, don’t worry—that is why.”

Shapewear issues or not, Adele looked nothing short of stunning in a custom gown by JW Anderson. The gorgeous look, which was styled by Jamie Mizrahi, was a full-length, all-black dress that featured a thin bedazzled belt-like detail around the waist. It also had a v-neck and the same narrow crystal-like detail across the chest.

This candid moment is just one example of how Adele keeps it real with her fans. Last year during a performance, the 36-year-old shared a touching moment with a couple who wanted her help with revealing the gender of their child.

Fans Chris and Shantelle Dare managed to sneak a sign into the venue that read, "Adele will you do our gender reveal?" And, the couple was later invited to the front of the stage for the big reveal.
