Skip Windmill’s 10K Person Waitlist—the A/C Unit Is Now Available at Home Depot

Summer is upon us, and that means we’re about to start needing our air conditioners more than ever. Luckily, there’s a new one on the market and everyone is trying to get their hands on it.

Within 24 hours of launching, Windmill, a new smart A/C unit you stick in your window and control with your phone, amassed a waitlist consisting of thousands. We’re serious. 

Luckily, the A/C unit is currently available for purchase at Home Depot Online for $395. Oh, and there’s no wait whatsoever.

According to a press release, the company “tapped experts with 60 years of A/C experience—marrying more than half a century of learnings with a modern approach to consumer convenience and tech-forward innovation.”

The result? A high-tech (not to mention, aesthetically pleasing) window unit that’s smart-phone compatible, eco-friendly and won’t keep you up at night with all of the noise. Per Windmill, the device provides you with healthy air by using “double filtration.” It’s important to note that the cartridges used for this system will need to be replaced and can be done through a monthly subscription delivery.

The brand launched a waitlist for the first-run edition in 2020. It began shipping nationwide last summer in conjunction with TaskRabbit, who offered a range of installation services.

Co-founded by third-generation A/C engineer Ryan Figlia and entrepreneurs Mike and Danny Mayer, Forbes calls the unit the “iPhone of air conditioners.” We think we’ll give this one a shot.
