I hate to admit it, but I despise cleaning. Like a true millennial, I’ll happily watch a three-minute “Sunday Reset” vlog on TikTok, but when it comes time to face my own mess, I’ll do just about anything to avoid breaking out the Swiffer. Call me crazy lazy, but the sweep-dust-scrub cycle has always bored me to bits—or, at least, it did. Enter the Bissell PowerClean DualBrush Stick Vacuum, a pet-friendly, self-standing (and self-cleaning) vac that can suck up debris large and small while easily transitioning from one surface to the next. As a stick vacuum convert, here’s my full review, plus how it turned one of my most hated household tasks into something I actually look forward to.

What Is the Bissell PowerClean DualBrush Stick Vacuum?

According to the brand, the PowerClean DualBrush Stick Vacuum is Bissell’s “most advanced stick vacuum yet,” featuring a rechargeable battery and cordless design. With three-in-one versatility, it can easily transform from a lightweight stick vacuum that works great on hardwood and carpet to a convenient handheld or high-reach vacuum, allowing you to easily clean those tough-to-reach places like stairs, shelves and everything in between. Plus, with its additional upholstery tool and built-in FurFinder headlight (that helps you see six times more fine debris, per the brand), pet hair doesn’t stand a chance.

Not Your Average Stick Vacuum: 3 Stand Out Features

I may be late to the unplugged party, but within the cleaning world, stick vacuums are nothing new. What sets the Bissell PowerClean DualBrush apart? These three features:

  1. AutoAdapt Technology: Automatically boosts suction power by up to 75 percent when it detects heavy dirt, maximizing cleaning efficiency and saving battery life
  2. DualBrush Technology: Built with a dual, self-cleaning brush roll system designed to handle large debris (like pet kibble) and fine particles (like dust bunnies) simultaneously
  3. FurFinder Headlights: Equipped with high- and low-beam LED lights on the vacuum foot and upholstery tool to illuminate hidden pet fur

My Review of the Bissell PowerClean DualBrush Stick Vacuum

The Setup

In addition to the main power head, the handheld vacuum body and the extension wand, the Bissell PowerClean DualBrush Stick Vacuum comes with two attachments: a FurFinder upholstery tool and a two-in-one dusting brush/crevice tool. Two removable lithium-ion batteries are also included (allowing you to keep one on deck fully charged while the other is in use), along with a wall-mountable charging dock and charging cable for easy power-up and storage.

If, like me, you get overwhelmed by new gadgets and lengthy user manuals, the barrier to entry on this vacuum is virtually non-existent. Everything from the charging packs to the accessory heads can be swapped in and out with a simple (and satisfying) click and lift. Plus, charging the batteries is as easy as charging your phone, and can reach full power in as little as three hours.

The Cleaning Power & Battery Life

Honestly, my favorite thing about this Bissell is its cordless, lightweight frame and maneuverability. My biggest gripe with a standard upright vacuum (and the reason why I can’t stand cleaning) is due, in part, to how annoyingly big, bulky and clumsy they are. Sure, they’re powerful, but they’re also total heavyweights, with an electrical cord that always seems to get in the way and is never long enough to fully cover a room.

With the Bissell, I can cruise around my house with ease, cleaning as I go from the living room to the playroom to the kitchen with zero interruptions, sucking up dirt and dust without having to worry about the nearest outlet. The DualBrush technology seamlessly sweeps up abandoned Cheerios and pet food, while still capturing the dog hair dust bunnies that plague every low-traffic area of my house. Guiding the way during each deep clean odyssey are the trusty LED headlights on both the main head and upholstery tool, which revealed far more dirt and debris than I ever could have noticed on my own.

The crevice and upholstery tools were equally as impressive, though I did have to go over certain spots a handful of times to fully release the pet hair from the couch fibers.

When using the hand vac in eco mode, Bissell says the runtime can last up to 50 minutes. I’ve tried it in both eco and turbo mode and noticed a significant difference in battery life (turbo puttered out after about 15 minutes). To combat this, I leaned on the vacuum’s unique AutoAdapt technology that, when left in auto mode, defaults to a lower setting until it detects a heavier pocket of debris. At that point, it’ll automatically adjust the suction as needed to clean up the mess. When used in this capacity, I averaged a 38-minute runtime, which was enough to cover the first two floors of my home. Pretty impressive if you ask me.

The Fun Factor

So, how did the Bissell turn my most hated chore into a household joy? For me, it all comes down to one major question: How easy does it get the job done? From the FurFinder headlights that reveal hidden dirt like a high-stakes video game to the cordless design and lightweight frame that allow me to zip around my house like a coked-out bumblebee, this is one stick vacuum that lets me do it all with ease (using just one hand, might I add).

The Bottom Line: Is the Bissell PowerClean DualBrush Stick Vacuum Worth It?

Bissell

If you’ve never tried a stick vacuum and you share four walls with a pet (or just love a deep clean), this is a great investment. It’s a top-of-the-line model with all the bells and whistles, but it isn’t as expensive as a Dyson or Tineco, which can give new buyers major sticker shock. It’s already replaced my old, corded Shark, and because of how easy it is to use, I find myself constantly reaching for it. As a pet and human parent, this vacuum is the total package—fun, functional and fuss-free.
