In sofa mode, the Sven looks and feels every bit like Article’s classic loveseat: deep seats, clean Scandinavian lines, and tufted details for a MCM edge. “The sofa is firm, which means the mattress won’t sag when unfolded and the cushions keep in place easily when in couch mode (no sliding or slanting),” Sally explains. That firmness is thanks to cushions filled with high-density polyurethane foam and polyester fiber, designed to give support without feeling stiff. It’s a sit-all-day kind of firm—structured, not punishing.
As for the upholstery, Sally adds: “The couch has a tufted bench seat and comes with two cushions and two round bolsters. The covering is made from a 95 percent polyester and 5 percent acrylic material, so it’s definitely more substantial and durable than soft and cozy.” To that point, the upholstery is abrasion-tested more than double the industry standard, which means it can handle years of wear without thinning out. Sally opted for the Biscuit Cream colorway, a neutral tone with a woven texture that looks airy and light but still practical for everyday use. And with other options like performance fabrics (great for families) or velvet (for a more elevated vibe), there are plenty of ways to tailor the look to your space.
Converting to a Sleeper
If you’ve ever battled with a traditional sleeper, you know the drill: heaving out a heavy metal frame, wrestling with springs and praying you don’t pinch your fingers in the process. The Sven does away with all of that. “Just take off the cushions, grab the two tabs at the back of the couch and unfold the sofa bed base to lay flat on the ground,” Sally explains. “It takes 30 seconds and there are no heavy moving parts, mechanics, springs or anything like that.” That ease of use is what makes this design stand out. You don’t need two people to tug the frame loose, and there’s no bar creaking its way into position.
