Hot take: Trader Joe is the grocery boyfriend of the people. He's always dreaming up unique appetizers, mains, snacks and desserts for his fans to try that they can't find anywhere else—and at a fair price. This month, he’s bringing plenty of gourmet splendor to this decidedly frigid winter, along with everyday items that deserve a spot in your weekly rotation.

Below, you'll find eight of my favorite new Trader Joe's items to shop this February, including Patagonian Scallops that melt in your mouth when added to seafood pasta, Onion Flowers that will be a showstopping appetizer at your next dinner party and Morning Buns that will make the start of your day that much sweeter.

How to Make a Trader Joe’s Charcuterie Board: A Food Editor’s 12 Favorite Cheeses, Meats and Accompaniments

1. Patagonian Scallops

Seafood is a staple in my house, but scallops can be seriously pricey. Fortunately, these Patagonian scallops are completely affordable and boast the same sweet, tender flavor of their bigger cousins. You might not achieve the same special-occasion worthy presentation you would with a simple plate of seared sea scallops, but this miniature version is excellent in both red and white sauce pasta dishes—just be sure to sear them only very briefly to maintain their exceedingly delicate texture, and add them to the finished dish at the very end so they don’t overcook.

2. Hot Honey Goat Milk Cheese

In case you missed it, hot honey has been all the rage for quite some time now, appearing on gourmet pizzas, sandwiches and cheese plates at some of our favorite eateries. Its popularity is no wonder—the combination of tangy goat cheese, kicky habanero, sweet honey and spicy chili flake will make your palate sing. Enjoy it on its own with bread and burst cherry tomatoes for a wonderful bruschetta, or toss it with roasted butternut squash pasta for a seasonal entrée that will make everyone come back for seconds.

3. Chicken Sausage Ravioli

My husband only eats chicken and fish, so when I’m not in the mood to figure out a new way to prepare chicken thighs (and don’t particularly feel like cooking), this ravioli never disappoints. The three-cheese-and-sausage filling is divine, and it cooks up in four minutes or less. All that’s left is to mix in your favorite store-bought pasta sauce (I love chili pesto with these) and toss in a handful of spinach or arugula to make it a more well-rounded meal.

4. Mini Dark Chocolate Biscuit Cookies

Dunk them in your morning coffee, break them over a bowl of ice cream, or simply snack on them solo—there’s no wrong way to enjoy these miniature chocolate-coated, wheat flour biscuits. The important thing is that their small size makes them particularly versatile, and you will get your chocolate fix no matter how you put them to use.

5. Pizza Bianca

Think of this pizza Bianca as a blank canvas for a satisfying weeknight dinner. Transform it with fresh corn, lime, chili powder, cotija cheese and chipotle mayo on the side for a pizza version of Mexican street corn. Top it with sautéed mushrooms, canned clams and red onion for a restaurant-worthy meal. The possibilities are endless and the prep is as minimal as you want it to be. Most toppings do well when added before you send the pie into the oven, because it cooks so quickly—but use your judgment and let your creativity be your guide.

6. Premium Angus Beef Boneless Chuck Roast

For a hearty winter meal, look no further than this premium chuck roast—a budget-friendly cut that is truly heavenly when cooked low and slow. Whip up a Mirepoix, toss in some potatoes and aromatics (think: rosemary and thyme) and then pop it in the oven or slow cooker to braise. The end result will be a kitchen that smells amazing and a beefy comfort food entrée that emerges fall-apart tender.

7. Onion Flowers

A crowd-pleasing hors d’oeuvre to serve at a party and a divine appetizer to plate up before you serve your tender beef roast—these onions are elegantly crafted to appear like flower blossoms. They’re also coated in a vegan-friendly batter that has been seasoned with heady spices to ensure maximum flavor. (Plus, you can pop them in the air fryer to prepare this app in a flash.)

8. Morning Buns

These beauties proof themselves when set out to rest on a baking sheet at room temperature overnight. Simply place them on a sheet pan so they can rise until you’re ready to rise and shine; then, stick ‘em in the oven for 15 minutes while you get ready. You will be rewarded with a flaky, buttery bun, laced with cinnamon sugar and orange zest. It’s a grab-and-go breakfast that’s blissfully easy to prepare and too decadently delicious to regret.
