S'mores? Delicious. Mike's Hot Honey? Delicious. Mike's Hot Honey-infused baked beans? Delicious. All of them, piled on top of each other, with along with what seems like a smattering of every candy, chip and snack food within arm's reach at the 7Eleven checkout counter?

I'm a daring eater, but when I first unboxed the ingredients for the Hello Fresh Fully Loaded Hot Honey S'mores Nachos with Fire & Iced Hot Chocolate (say that five times fast), I had pause. I'm down with sweet and savory combos, but would this be too much? For science (and #content), I had to try it out—and bring you along for the ride.

You don't have to be a Hello Fresh subscriber to buy the kit, which costs $25, though if you are a subscriber, you can add it on to your plan any week from now through July 21, while supplies last. (And if you're thinking about subscribing, you can sign up now using the code PUREWOW10FM to snag a free protein item for life and 10 meals for free.)

Inside the kit, you'll find everything you need to make a tub of s'mores nachos—either on the grill or in your oven—along with ingredients to make hot honey-spiked iced chocolates and retro-camp-inspired swag (a cocktail shaker, two metal mugs and a trivet).

The Biggest Draw Is the Range of Mike's Hot Honey Snacks

hello fresh

As you may have guessed, these aren't your typical s'mores nachos. And I don't say that because you drizzle the thing with hot honey. Hello Fresh's recipe calls for layering marshmallows, chopped Mike's Hot Honey-infused beef sticks, hot honey-coated pretzels, hot honey potato chips, mini chocolate chips, mini candy-coated chocolate gems, and hot honey-flavored almonds in the included grill pan.

You then add Mike's Hot Honey potato chips and broken-up graham crackers, baking it or grilling it for 10 minutes. I wound up popping mine in the oven for a little less than a minute to broil the tops of the marshmallows, browning them a bit more.

While I wasn't sure how I'd feel about the chopped beef sticks, I was on board with this swicy-salty mix. It was the next step—warming and dolloping on Mike's Hot Honey-infused baked beans—that made me hesitant. For some reason, the beans felt a step too far, veering this into Christopher Lloyd-camping-in-Dennis-the-Menace territory in my mind.

But that's the thing: A recipe is really only a suggestion. You can customize these nachos as you see fit. Not into beans and beef sticks with s'mores? Omit them. Can't do almonds? Give the bag to a friend.

The thing that sets this kit apart is that it's really a tribute to swicy stans everywhere, giving them access to a ton of Mike's Hot Honey collabs without having to visit half a dozen grocery stores to hunt them down. (In fact, after sharing pics of the nachos ingredients online, my DMs were suddenly flooded with asks of where to buy specific items in the kit. Why not just get the kit and turn it into a tasting party?)

It's Strangely Addictive

hello fresh

Everyone who sampled the nachos questioned whether the Hot Honey product placement had gone too far (namely, the beans). But then they kept scooping up more. Yes, it was a molten, swicy slop, but there was something about that salty, cinnamon-y, chocolate-y, spicy-sweet goop that kept people coming back for another scoop.

That's why, even though the kit is meant for four, I'd recommend sharing it with six or more people. It's rich and decadent—a little goes a long way.

The Fire & Iced Hot Chocolate Is for True Swicy Stans

hello fresh

At first glance, you may wonder why the kit comes with a cocktail shaker. Turns out, it's so you can make hot honey-infused iced hot chocolate and homemade hot honey-infused whipped cream. (Suddenly, it also made sense why the kit included two full-size bottles of Mike's Hot Honey—one regular and one extra hot. If you're daring enough, you could go through a lot with this kit.)

The recipe, combined with a hot-honey-and-crushed-graham-cracker rim on the mugs, felt like too much hot honey for me, so I omitted Mike's from the iced hot chocolate. The whipped cream and honey rim were enough to keep the drink decently spicy—so much so that I quickly switched to water. Combined with the S'mores Nachos, it was hot honey overload for me and I needed a palate cleanser. For people who put hot sauce on everything, that may not be the case.

The Bottom Line: It'll Get the Party Started
