As a fashion editor and runner, I’m a sucker for any workout gear that also feels supremely chic. Which is precisely why I immediately fell head-over-heels in love with Tracksmith’s classically cool running gear. Even better, however, is the fact that the stylish singlets, sleek leggings, minimalist jackets and vintage-inspired running sneakers are all the real deal, designed to perform through tough workouts and aggressive sweat sessions with aplomb. And I can say with confidence, they truly live up to the hype.

If you’ve had your eye on something special, for you or the avid runner on your holiday gift list, the Tracksmith Black Friday Sale is the ideal time to add to cart. Now through Monday, Dec. 1, you can score 20 percent off sitewide, with 30 percent off select pieces. The brand rarely goes on sale, so this is definitely your best chance to score the iconic Van Cortland singlet or hot new Franklin Fleece at a discount. Or you can opt for two of my personal favorites, the Harrier Long Sleeve (was $110, now $88) and the lightweight Twilight Tank (was $65, now $52).

A word of warning: Tracksmith favorites tend to sell out very quickly, so you’re probably going to want to add those must-haves to your shopping cart ASAP. Not quite sure where to being? Read on for 18 of my top Tracksmith picks whether you’re a beginner runner, an experienced marathoner or looking for the perfect gift for your running buddy.

These Tracksmith Sneakers Are the Ultimate Travel Shoe, Especially for Runners

I’ll always love my classic Trackhouse sweatpants for days when comfort is the main priority, but for times when I want to look a bit more put together, nothing beats the Downeaster pants. They’re made of a soft Merino wool that’s not at all scratchy, just wonderfully warm. And I adore the drawstrings at the ankles, which practically allow me to more easily pull these pants on or off over my sneakers, but also just add a fun finishing touch to elevate the whole look. There’s also a drawstring in the waistband and two deep pockets on the sides to complete the cozy trifecta.

Senior Editor and fellow Tracksmith obsessive Dana Dickey and I have both raved about the Eliot running sneaker in the past, and I absolutely plan to invest in a fun new color (there are currently eight to choose from). They’re a neutral shoe with a Pebax foam insole and supercritical foam midsole that provides ample cushion without needing to build up the sole to a super-chunky level. The Eliot is a great and versatile shoe for everyday runs, no matter what type of runner you are (beginner, marathoner, local Turkey Trot champ), all while looking incredibly chic so you won’t feel out of place wearing them around town too.

This lightweight jacket is both water and wind repellant, and has a merino wool lining to keep you warm and odor-free even on the longest winter runs. It can be stored neatly in its own zippered pocket and is super lightweight, meaning you won’t feel bogged down if you tie it around your waist mid-run after warming up. The zipper finishes with a chin guard up top to avoid any irritation, too. And while the Overland Windbreaker was designed with trail runners in mind, it works just as well for loops around the cul-de-sac or local high school track.

This cozy fleece has all the charm and style of your favorite retro half-zip from the ‘90s, now upgraded with all the best fabric innovations to make it a true performance piece. Choose between a half and a full zip, both of which come panels of Tracksmith’s proprietary Inverno blend material (more on that below) for maximum breathability and comfort without sacrificing warmth. There’s also a bungee cord in the hem so you can cinch for added warmth if needed.

PureWow’s former Senior Food Editor Katherine Gillen wears her Turnover Tights multiple times a week, they’re just that good. They’re made from an innovative Inverno Blend fabric that is designed to work almost like a double layer of clothing without any added bulk. The durable outer face is treated to wick away precipitation, like light rain or snow, while the brushed inner helps provide a barrier between your skin and the fabric, which means your legs won’t ever feel like they’re being hit with cold rain. “They may be a bit pricy,” admits Gillen, “but these Tracksmith leggings are just so good.” P.S. They come in both full-length and a 7/8-length versions.

I own three of these wool-blend tops, and they’re basically all I want to wear on winter runs. The Brighton base layer is warm, soft, breathable and wicks away sweat in a flash. It was designed for layering under a jacket or fleece and has a slim fit that hugs your curves, but I prefer to wear it alone most of the time finding it provides ample warmth on its own when wind or rain aren't factors. As for sizing, it’s definitely designed to hug the body, so if you prefer something with a bit more wiggle room you’ll probably want to go up one from your usual size.

The Van Cortlandt Singlet is perhaps Tracksmith’s most recognizable clothing item. Inspired by old-school collegiate running kits, it has a single stripe running from the right shoulder across the chest and is made from a surprisingly soft mesh that’s both durable and lightweight. They’re breathable enough to keep you comfortable on hot summer runs, but also easy to layer over when temperatures start to drop. Take it from someone who owns two of these chic singlets (and who has her eye on at least two additional colors), these tanks are worth the splurge. A note on sizing however: I recommend going up one from your usual size, as there is little to no stretch in the material.

For a pick that won’t break the bank but will become a beloved part of their workout wardrobe, look no further than these compressive crew socks. These were my go-to socks through all of marathon training and for race day to keep my feet feeling supported through all 26.2 miles. The 5-inch height has the Gen Z stamp of approval, and as a millennial, I love the slim fit—think less chunky ‘80s sock and more sleek pop of color. The material and cut offer lightweight compression to keep your feet feeling fresh on race day, and there’s just enough cushioning in the toe and heel.

Built to see you through wet and cold runs in style, the Chiltern vest and coordinating Chiltern jacket (was $150, now $120) are great for the runner who loves to get those miles in, rain or shine. It has a lightweight construction that won’t leave you feeling bogged down, even when wet, and there are reflective details as well to keep you safe. Add to that two ergonomically placed pockets for easy access on the go and you’ve got yourself a new run-day favorite.

This lightweight top is my go-to for literally any and all workouts—long runs, 400m repeats, tempo runs, easy runs and more. The material is lightweight, wicks away moisture with ease and has a decent amount of stretch so you can comfortably scrunch up the sleeves when you want some additional airflow. It even has built-in UPF to better protect your skin on sunny afternoons. Dickey attests, “I live in my Session Long Sleeve for cold outdoor workouts. It’s also just cute as a sporty top with jeans.” She also advises you stick with your usual size for this one.

Much like the Session Long Sleeve, these shorts are designed to see you through any and all types of runs. They have a 3-inch inseam, an adjustable drawcord in the waistband, a super-smooth lining and built-in UPF 50+ to protect your skin from harmful UV rays. This updated style also has a roomier fit than previous models, plus three internal drop-in pockets and one external zip pocket to give you even more storage capabilities.

“I'm wearing my Federation Track Pants as I type this,” admits Dickey. “They have a fuzzy interior, comfy medium-wide waistband and cool-looking side stripes that lengthen my petite legs. What’s especially cool about these pants is that I’ve had them for three years and they wear like iron and are as cute with pumps and they are practical/pro-looking to wear for working out on the UCLA track.” They also have hidden zips on the ankles to make it easier to pull them over your sneakers after a warm up, or to just add a cool kick if you’re strolling about town.

  • Materials: 79 percent cotton, 17 percent polyester, 4 percent spandex

I wear this henley for both hiking and running and have even been known to rock it on the weekends for casual hangs with friends too. The waffled merino wool is super soft and surprisingly breathable, not too warm nor too thin. And the henley buttons give it a retro vibe I adore. This top definitely fits true to size, so stick with your usual when adding to your shopping cart.

This are not your average running gloves. First, there’s the Inverno fabric, which is super smooth, lightweight and great at wicking away excess moisture. Then there are the super-soft panels along the thumb and forefinger specifically placed to prevent irritation when you inevitably find yourself wiping away snot on your winter runs (it happens to all of us). And to top it all off, they also have touchscreen compatible panels on the pointer finger and thumb so you can text your running group without exposing your digits to the cold. Pro tip: Fingers tend to swell when you run, so if you’re between sizes I suggest going with the larger pair to avoid the fabric feeling too clingy or tight.

These are not your average winter running leggings. The Fells tights are actually made of Merino wool and have a ribbed texture more akin to your favorite sweater than your go-to leggings. I bought the Fells shorts during last year’s Black Friday sale and was shocked by how much I loved running in what I like to describe as “performance sweater shorts.” The material still offers plenty of compression, is soft to the touch and wicks away sweat like nobody’s business. Plus, there’s one drop-in pocket in the back ideal for essentials. Trust me, these are the leggings you’ll want to reach for more than any other come peak winter.

Another great pickup for the Tracksmith devotee, this water bottle is insulated to keep drinks cold for hours on end. Seriously, I’ll fill it up with ice and water before going to bed and the ice is still there come morning when I head out the door for a run. The sleek design fits easily in backpack pockets and car cupholders, and the mouth is wide and easy to drink from without spilling all over the place. Best of all, it is designed by the B-Corp brand MiiR for an eco-friendly bonus.

The Twilight series is by far my favorite for running in hot weather, so trust me when I say you’ll be glad you stocked up on a few of these tanks (or T-shirts) now while they’re on sale come July’s inevitable heat and humidity. The material is incredibly light and breathable, and feels like you’re wearing nothing, which is a real godsend when it’s 80 degrees and you’ve still got two miles to go.

FAST FACTS

  • Size Range: XS to XL
  • Materials: 82 percent nylon, 15 percent elastane, 5 percent carbon

Dickey and I both swear by multiple Tracksmith styles for both running and travel, so why not round out your collection with this classic weekend duffel bag? With a 63L carrying capacity, it’s the ideal size for a long weekend away, and can be carried either with the top handles or with the adjustable long strap. It even comes with a zippered pocket on the bottom to stow shoes or dirty clothes separately from the rest of your things. The cotton canvas is highly durable, aided by leather patches in the spots likely to get the most wear and tear. Seriously, I’ve used this duffel for three years now, and it looks just as good as the day I got it.
