Every spring I find myself totally overwhelmed by a wave of new fashion trends to usher in the warmer weather. But rather than buy into anything and everything—and inevitably end up donating all those items a few months later, unworn—I’m determined to invest only in the those pieces I think have real staying power or that will be easy to mix in with my existing wardrobe. And now I’m passing my hot list on to you, with a breakdown of the top three spring fashion trends I think are just too good to pass up. So without further ado, here are all the trends you won’t regret adding to your shopping cart ASAP.

1. Cherry Red Anything

The easiest trend to try in spring 2024 is bright, bold shades of red. They were everywhere during Fashion Month, both on and off the runway, and in every form you can think of. Some fashionistas chose to go for a small (but powerful) pop by way of a clutch, hair bow, statement earrings or even a swipe of red lipstick. Others embraced the color in larger swaths, be it a red midi dress, red coat or a matching red blazer and pants. If you want to wear the hue with other non-neutral shades, I suggest either balancing that brightness with more subtle colors (like pale pink or lilac) or going all out with a color bonanza (bring on the violet and Kelly green).

2. Cropped Lady Jackets

These Chanel-inspired jackets have been trending since fall 2023, but they show no signs of slowing down. In fact, they were just about everywhere during Fashion Month, with influencers and editors wearing them over a wide variety of looks. Some paired them with low-rise jeans and sneakers or flats for a more casual vibe, while others went posh with tailored wide-leg trousers and heels. Some even went the Carrie Bradshaw route and wore their cropped jackets with tulle midi skirts. Basically, this is a piece that can be made to work for any aesthetic or event, making it well worth the investment.

3. Kitten Heels

As we slowly ease ourselves back into wearing non-normcore shoes (basically anything with a dainty heel), it makes sense that we’d gravitate toward mini kitten styles. And while the ‘90s revival still going strong, you can expect to see a lot of slingbacks and mules, as well as both square and exaggerated pointed toes. But really, you can opt for whatever pair excites you and feels most comfortable. Pair them with everything from cocktail dresses to jeans.
