There’s a lot we’re excited about this summer—going to see a movie with friends, sipping cocktails at a rooftop bar, taking the kids to pet turtles at the zoo—but dressing up in fun new summer outfits (instead of a sweatsuit) is definitely at the top of our list. We’re more than ready to pull out all the floaty frocks, linen trousers, strappy sandals and breezy tanks for a few joyful months of fun in the sun. These 30 Stylish Sundresses Will Crank Up the Heat on Your Summer Wardrobe

1. Short-sleeve Blouse + Silk Skirt

An easy silk midi always looks effortlessly stylish, no matter what top you wear it with. That said, we love Coterie member Caroline Juen’s combination of a vacation-ready Hawaiian shirt and a slinky skirt. Slip into some flat sandals and you’re ready to stroll through the farmers market or picnic in the park, then you can swap them out for heels and statement earrings to head out for a fancier event like dinner or drinks.

2. Patterned T-shirt + Loose White Pants

We love a good breezy dad pant, but they’re not always the easiest to style. We’ve found that French tucking a vibrantly patterned tee (or any top with unique embroidery or beading) and opting for footwear that’s equally detailed is a surefire way to make the trend work for you.

3. Knit Midi + Minimalist Sandals

Yes, you can (and should!) wear a sweater dress in summer. Stick with lightweight knits, or even those with a more open structure, and sleeveless styles. Midis are perhaps the most universally flattering length, but don’t let that stop you from trying out a foxy mini or modest maxi if your heart so desires.

4. Billowing Maxi Dress + Sporty Sandals

Once the temperatures start to hit their max, floaty frocks are the way to go. Even if they have long sleeves and generous hems that brush your ankles, the loose silhouette allows for maximum airflow to keep you cool. No matter what length you choose, try pairing your tent dress with some chunky Birkenstock-inspired sandals to balance out those nap-dress vibes in modern way.

5. Lightweight Summer Whites

Ivy Maurice definitely knows how to beat the heat in style, with her easy combination of simple white separates. We suggest following her lead and sticking to pieces with a looser cut, but otherwise feel free to play around with all sorts of materials. Pair denim with linen or cotton with silk (or maybe even cashmere) to create a look with a beautiful mix textures.

6. Black Clothing + Colorful Accessories

On the flip side, you can always rely on an all-black ensemble. But because summer is typically associated with bright colors, pretty florals and lighter hues, we suggest adding at least one, if not a few, pops of color in the form of accessories. Tie a patterned scarf around your waist (or neck) and swap your trusty black bag for one that’s Kelly green instead.

7. Shell Top + Tailored Shorts + Sleek Extras

Making shorts look chic as an adult is often pretty challenging, but we know a few tricks to make things a little easier. First, opt for tailored pieces in slightly longer cuts (somewhere between five inches and Bermuda length), and skip skin-tight silhouettes for those with more wiggle room. Next, pair them with other structured favorites, like a classic shell top and blazer (matching or not) or a button-down shirt. Keep your shoes, handbag and other extras on the simpler side to maintain that grown-up feel.

8. Button-up Shirt + Denim Shorts + White Sandals

Even denim shorts can look grown up, as proven by Coterie member Monroe Steele’s fabulous ensemble. A classic white button-down and stark heeled sandals are all you need to rock cut-offs without looking like you’re on a beach vacation. Pro tip: Button just one shirt button at your bust, like Steele did above, then cross one end over the other as you tuck them into your shorts to create the illusion of a flattering wrap top.

9. Silky Loungewear + Pointy-toe Shoes

Breezy silk lounge sets are every bit as comfy as your favorite sweatsuits but look infinitely more chic, making them a better option for weekend get-togethers or evening events. And Coterie member Grace Atwood knows exactly how to accessorize such a set—with sleek pointy-toe shoes, pearl earrings and a ladylike handbag—to combat the inherent PJ-vibes of loose silky staples. Thanks for the inspo, Grace!

Shanna Battle’s combination of a collared shirt, light-wash jeans and slip-on sneakers isn’t exactly revolutionary, but it is a foolproof ensemble for those days when you just want something easy to throw on and go. Feel free to have some fun with accessories, like a straw bag with a patterned scarf tied around the handle or a stack of colorful beaded bracelets. Or go ahead and keep things simple with a neutral-hued baguette bag and mini gold hoops.

Follow Teni Pascal’s lead and pair them with simple silhouettes in pastel hues, rather than pieces with complicated ruffles or pleats in eye-popping shades. Not sure which pastel to pick? Opt for a hue pulled directly from the pattern to ensure you won’t look like you got dressed in the dark.
