With eight Olympic medals, five World Championship all-around gold medals and plenty of other records to her name, don't be surprised if Simone Biles, 26, takes over the fashion world next.
The world-class gymnast recently launched a line of activewear in collaboration with Athleta, called the “Because I Can” collection. This new collab features bras, T-shirts, tights and more for young girls looking to find their inner Simone. You can check it out here.
Athleta promoted the line on Instagram, with a post that read: “A note from the goat: Do it for you—no one else.”
The name for the collection comes from a quote that occurred in 2021. When asked why she had performed such high-difficulty moves at the U.S. Classic, Biles responded to reporters: “Because I can.”
Now, those words are printed across T-shirts ($35) and sports bras ($39) courtesy of Athleta. The line also includes tights ($55) and sweatpants ($55) adorned with cartoons of rainbows, hearts and smiley faces, as well as shorts ($35) and scrunchies ($15).
The Medal of Freedom recipient first joined Athleta’s team in April 2021, when her partnership with Nike ended.
“Using my voice has been very empowering for me and I’m grateful to embark on this new journey with Athleta to inspire young girls and women to do the same,” Biles said at the time. “I admire Athleta for their commitment to recognize and support women’s individual and collective strength and, together, I believe we can help girls to confidently and passionately take on the world in their athletic endeavors and beyond.”
This new collection arrives right as Biles made history at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships, where she received a record eighth all-around title. Not only that, but she also became the oldest woman ever to win the gymnastics competition.
