The best fur-trimmed coats.
Nordstrom/Michael Kors/Revolve/Design for PureWow

Come winter, your coat makes your outfit. It's the first thing everybody sees when you walk into a room. It's the statement-maker folks glance at when you pass them on the sidewalk. And here in New York City, I check out a lot of them. But if there's one coat trend every fashionable woman I see seems to embracing, it's fur trim.

My fellow PureWow editor Rachel Bowie recently pointed out the bold collar look, but I'm talking fluffy, more dramatic trims from collar to cuff, along with longer, sleeker silhouettes. The style is so sophisticated, and just the right amount of luxe. Plus, many of the pieces I've been spotting come with a belt for a customizable (and waist-cinching) fit.

If you still haven't secured your winter layer (which, after all, you're going to be donning until March, at least), I suggest taking a page from these chic city slickers and shopping one of the picks I've rounded up below.

Upgrade your jacket to this wool-blend style, featuring a front snap closure, roomy patch pockets and—the main attraction— fluffy faux fur accents on the shawl collar and cuffs. The removable belt is also a nice touch, making it easy to tailor to your figure.

Not your basic vintage-inspired coat, this faux suede style features an ultra-shaggy trim for some modern Penny Lane pizzazz. And don't even get me started on the gorgeous olive color that's guaranteed to turn heads. Boho-cool aesthetic aside, the patch pockets and removable tie belt make it perfectly functional, so you can really use it as your everyday go-to.

Among the best-selling midi-length coats at Revolve right now is this faux leather number finished with dramatic faux fur. You can wear it multiple ways thanks to its front-button closure and detachable tie belt. Plus, it's machine-washable, so you can keep it looking brand new.

If you want to make a statement this winter, there's no question whether you should secure this faux suede beauty that looks straight out of the '70s in the best way. It features an oversized fuzzy collar and cuffs, adding texture to any look. That said, I can't resist adding it to my cart, especially while it's on sale for under $115.

As one reviewer noted, "This jacket is absolutely stunning." It just screams glam, and features a removable faux fur collar, which means you can instantly switch up the look (so you never get tired of wearing it). As if it can't get any better, another shopper said the "fur is nice and silky and feels good against the skin." Not to mention, the thick, wool-blend fabric gives it some structure, and is sure to keep you toasty on even the coldest days.
