On March 11, the PureWow offices began working from home…for the foreseeable future. For many among us, that meant breaking out beloved sweatpants, cozy slippers and loungewear. But while I’m officially an Inside Person, I didn’t magically convert into a Sweatpants Person—something about wearing them always makes me feel sloppy and blue. That’s why I’ve been donning the same pair of Madewell slim wide-leg full-length jeans for the past 14 days. They’re my quarantine jeans! I love them, and here’s why.

The wide-leg cut has the same appeal as a pair of sweats: It’s roomy and comfortable while I rotate between sitting on my couch or bed or at the kitchen table. But the high waist and slim fit through the hips offer the structure that I need in these turbulent times. Read: I feel put together enough to hop on one of the five bajillion video calls that pepper my day, but I don’t feel like I’m all dressed up with nowhere to go, which is the sad vibe I imagine a pair of dress pants would evoke. It’s not that anyone can see my pants, but they put me in the right mindset nevertheless.

If you need any more proof that these quarantine jeans are magical, hear this: I tried wearing a pair of ultra-soft joggers last Friday (you know, to see what all the fuss was about), and suddenly everything was bleak. I felt sad; sadder than I had all week. Oh, and one more thing: They're on major sale, from $128 to $72. Just enter the code 'Veryrare' at checkout.

These jeans are just the thing I need to ground me. They’re a reminder of what waits on the other side, while I watch the world from my apartment window and talk to my potentially pantless coworkers through a screen. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with the comfort of a pair of sweatpants! But I need a little hope, and it just happened to come in the form of a pair of jeans.
