When the clock strikes September, there’s no better feeling than resurfacing our favorite pairs of denim. But this fall, denim on denim (also known as the “Canadian tuxedo”) is officially back in style and we have both Taylor Swift and Joanna Gaines serving up inspo on creative ways to wear it.

Taylor, first. The Tortured Poets Department singer donned a shorts-and-corset combo for the first regular game of the NFL season while supporting her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. Her version of the look? It was quite fitted, in fact, with each denim piece in a slightly different wash (a great way to counter a denim moment that’s too matchy matchy).
Next up, there’s Joanna Gaines, interior designer and Fixer Upper star: She recently took to Instagram to tease the cover of the fall issue of Magnolia journal and wore a fitted denim jumpsuit with a cuffed ankle, but comfy-looking fit.
Both wore the trend well, but distinctively—and we’ll admit that we’re eager to test each version of the look. In the case of Taylor, we love the casual dressiness of her denim-on-denim combo; with Joanna, the jumpsuit feels like something we’d totally reach for before heading to brunch or to the Sunday farmers’ market. To make it easy, we pulled a couple of ways for you to replicate both of their looks, whatever you fancy—picks below.
1. ME+EM Denim Jumpsuit and Belt
ME+EM

More than anything, we’re impressed that we’ve found two chic and sophisticated examples that make us absolutely covet the idea of rocking denim on denim yet again. Our ‘90s selves feel seen.
