How to Wear High-Waisted Jeans, Fashionably

It's all happening—fall fashion is upon us. One thing we're super psyched to wear this year? High-waisted jeans. (And it looks like we're not alone; Pinterest's just-released Pinstyle Report projects we'll be seeing these guys everywhere in the coming months.) Scroll down for tips on how to wear the look, then head to our fashion board for even more inspiration.

The Most Flattering Jeans for Your Body Type

Wear A Shirt That Hits Just At The Top Of Your Jeans

High-waisted jeans are great for highlighting your torso's smallest part. A boxy top that hits right where your waistband starts is a fun alternative to a tucked-in shirt. It's slightly sexier but still modest.

Appear Taller With Wide Legs

If high-rise jeans are flattering, then high-rise jeans that also have a wide leg are basically perfect. Worn with a tucked-in tee or blouse, these allow you to fake those supermodel legs you've always envied.

Dress Them Down With Sneakers

It's sometimes difficult to find the right balance between casual and sloppy. Jeans and sneakers with a baggy T-shirt can read a bit messy, but high-waisted jeans, sneakers and a tucked-in chambray shirt is pretty much our ideal weekend outfit.

Dress Them Up With A Lingerie-inspired Top

On the flip side, jeans can also go in the opposite direction with a little zhuzhing. Take your favorite high-waisted jeans and add a lacy camisole, pumps and a red lip to make this casual staple totally appropriate for after-hours fun.

Don't Overthink It

We're all about maximalist dressing, but sometimes simple styling is best. Take the gal above: With the right pair of jeans, all you really need is a simple black tank, coordinating belt and strappy sandals to look out-of-this-world good.
