To all the jeans I’ve loved before, there’s a new crush in town.

Last fall, Citizens of Humanity launched an innovative new line for women and men: the cashmere collection, featuring the brand’s signature denim blended with cashmere for an ultra-soft feel.

Intrigued and (admittedly) in the mood to shop, I said a little prayer and swiped right on the Annina straight leg pair, hoping I wouldn’t regret adding to the chaos that is my already overstuffed closet. Since then, I’ve been wearing them incessantly, throughout the dregs of winter and well into the warmer afternoons of spring

Before I get to the good stuff (aka my honest thoughts), I know what you’re thinking. Cashmere jeans? But why? To that I say, why not? In a world of quiet luxury and better basics, this mash-up makes total sense. And after wearing them on and off for the better part of three months, I fully support the hype.

Read on for my full review, from fit and feel to how they compare to the sweatpant jean trend.

The Material

When it comes to a cashmere denim crossover, a little goes a long way. While cotton is still the predominant fabric of this collection, there’s 5.5 percent woven cashmere spun directly into the denim material, creating an ultra-soft feel that prioritizes comfort without compromising on style or care. (When laundry day rolls around, simply pop them into the washing machine on cold—no dry cleaning required.)

The end result is a wardrobe workhorse you’ll actually enjoy slipping on: They bend, they move but they still have enough structure to smooth and lift—all without digging into your midsection or sagging over time.

The Feel

Now, this is where the magic happens. Reader, I wish you could feel through the phone (or desktop) to see just how soft these jeans truly are, especially compared to a more typical, rigid denim. Though the cashmere weave is a small piece of the fabric pie, it packs a major punch, imparting a cozy, microfleece-like feel that’s buttery smooth. If you’ve ever tried on a pair of the viral sweatpant jeans, these feel just like that (if not better). And rather than $200+ of screen-printed cotton terry, you get real pockets and an ultra-luxe cashmere blend—sold at a comparable price to boot.

The Style

When it came to style, the Annina in Pierre immediately spoke to me: a high-rise waist in a deep indigo wash with a vintage silhouette that strikes the perfect balance between a wide-leg and straight-leg look. Summed up in a word, these jeans are indisputably cool—and lucky for me, they go with just about anything.

On my average 5’6” frame, the inseam was a bit long, but that’s nothing a chunky sneaker or heeled boot couldn’t solve.

The Fit

Denim can be a fickle beast. The stretch-friendly options tend to sag after a few wears, and while the more rigid cotton blends hold their shape better over time, they typically feel stiff and constricting. More often than not, you’re swapping one evil for another. But this cashmere collection is different. Though I had my doubts, my wear test proved me wrong, confirming softness and structure can coexist without compromise.

Even after a long day at the office, there was minimal change in the overall fit, especially around the waistband and butt area. No saggy knees greeted me at home, nor did I feel the need to discreetly undo the top button to survive my end-of-day commute.

The Bottom Line

What I Like

  • Ultra-soft
  • Holds its shape
  • No sagging
  • Machine washable
  • Fits true to size

What I Don't Like

  • Pricey
  • Inseam runs a little long

In a sea of denim—to which I hoard own a lot—I continually gravitate toward this special pair. Thriving in the sweet spot of comfort, structure and timeless style, these jeans are the embodiment of quiet luxury, harboring a luxurious little secret only I (and now you) can feel.
