This Is 2021’s Answer to Millennial Pink
Millennial pink—that ubiquitous shade of pale pink seen everywhere an on everything for the past few years—will always hold a special place in our hearts. But it appears as though it might finally be taking a backseat in a post-COVID-19 world to shades a bit brighter, bolder and more celebratory. As the world slowly (but surely) begins to open up again, there is one hue in particular that we predict will soon flood your Instagram feeds as 2021’s answer to the softer hue: bright pink.
Unlike its calming, cool predecessor, bright pink is much louder (though not quite as vivid as magenta) and more audacious. It calls more attention to itself, but not in an obnoxious or garish way. Most importantly, however, might be the fact that it looks good on almost every skin tone and works for any age range. And according to the global search platform Lyst, searches for “bright pink” have been growing steadily over the past few months, increasing by more than 80 percent since the beginning of February. Although the trend’s exact origins are unclear, we have a few working theories (outside of the fact that bright pink is universally flattering).
Back in October and November, just before the 2020 election, there was a flurry of women sporting the same Argent suit as a political statement about the importance and influence of women voters. That suit happened to be a very vibrant shade of hot pink that was impossible to ignore—something the makers very much wanted to embrace as part of their campaign to get more people to the polls. It could be that the appeal of such a “look at me” color is still going strong, or that some folks are still hoping to keep voter importance at the forefront of everyone’s minds. On the other hand, as we all grow increasingly tired of hiding away in our homes, wearing the same cozy sweatsuit on every Zoom call (even tie-dye sets seem to have lost their luster), we’ve seen an uptick in fancy feel-good trends—like pearl jewelry and sexy cutouts—that add some pizazz to the everyday. Bright pink is festive, cheerful and feels special, especially next to our growing collection of black leggings.
Whatever the reason, bright pink is here to stay and to liven up your year. So we rounded up 15 of the best bright pink dresses, tops and accessories to add a much-needed and trendy color pop to your wardrobe.

The flowy cut of this V-neck blouse makes it super easy to wear around the house, but it will also look great tucked into trousers or layered under a blazer if/when we ever return to the office.
Available in sizes 1X to 3X
5. Porridge Vianne Maxi Shirtdress
If you’re not super keen on sporting large swaths of such a stunning shade, look for pieces that incorporate it as part of a larger pattern. For instance, the brown and white petals on this shirtdress help tone down the brightness a bit for a more laid-back vibe.
Available in sizes 0 to 26W
6. Lele Sadoughi Corduroy Knotted Headband
For anyone not ready to fully commit to the trend, a gorgeous knotted headband is a great way to ease your way in. White or gray will make for a foolproof match, but bright pink also works well with red or orange, for those willing to go a little bolder.
7. ASOS Design Wide-Fit Virtue D’Orsay Ballet Flats
Another great entry item is a pair of classic pointy-toe flats. Keep your bottoms neutral in hue (blue-wash jeans, beige trousers or khaki green pants all qualify), but feel free to play with more color up top. Even contrasting hues like yellow or Kelly green won't look mismatched thanks to a separating border of denim.
9. Maeve Carey Muscle Tunic Tee
Ease your way into the trend with a simple T-shirt that pairs equally well with jeans as it does with leggings or sweatpants.
Available in sizes XS to XL
10. Eloquii Cross-Front Flutter-Sleeve Dress
Bright pink is a celebratory shade, so why not consider an occasion dress with the same mood? This one can be dressed up with sparkly jewelry and a dainty clutch for wedding receptions or cocktail parties, or toned down with simple black pumps and some pearl earrings for date night.
Available in sizes 14 to 28
11. J.Crew Garment-Dyed Slim Wide-Leg Jeans
For the bold among us, try these vibrant jeans with an equally colorful contrasting knit. (Of course, you can never go wrong with a plain white tee, either.)

Wear this tunic over skinny jeans while the weather is still cool, then as a beach coverup come June.
