I’ll take any excuse I can get to dress up, especially around the holidays. Sequins and velvet and all things sparkly tend to get the most attention this time of year, but there’s a different holiday trend I plan on leaning into for 2025, one that’s far simpler. I’m talking about a chic hair bow. This old-school accessory is such an easy way to add a little extra something-something to literally any hairdo. And there is no celeb providing better inspiration right now than Ariana Grande.
Ariana Grande Is All the Style Inspo I Need to Rock This Old-School Holiday Trend in 2025
So easy, so chic

Grande has been rocking hair bows for quite some time now, especially with her party-ready red carpet looks. Case in point, her fabulous pink Thom Browne dress with matching hair bow at an appearance ahead of the Paris Olympics in 2024.
But unlike the years of her signature high ponytail ‘do, Grande loves to play around with different bow styles rather than sticking with just one variation. This makes her all the style inspiration I need to rock a hair bow of my own for all the holiday events this season. Here, three ways I plan to copy Grande’s new go-to hair trick.

1. A Floppy Bow and Classic Ponytail
As the saying goes, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. A classic black bow knotted around a ponytail, high, mid or low, is a timelessly chic style that feels fun and festive. To avoid feeling too juvenile, be sure to pair your hair bow with an outfit that feels more mature or posh, a la Grande’s Chanel shift dress from the Academy Women’s Luncheon in December 2024.

2. A Dainty Knot Atop a Bun
Wearing a giant bow runs the risk of making me feel like a kid playing dress-up. But a dainty design, like Grande’s velvet number from the 2025 EE BAFTA Film Awards in London this past February, is just the touch of whimsy a slick bun needs to go from severe to chic.

3. Below a Ponytail
This was my go-to hairdo in high school. Placing a slightly oversize bow feels more modern or fresh than wearing one on top, but is every bit as easy to achieve. That said, there are two important details to pay attention to to ensure your bottom bow doesn’t just disappear into your hairdo. First, be sure the bow loops are wide enough to actually peek out from the sides of your ponytail. And second, make sure the loose ends hit within an inch of the end of your pony.
Et voilà! Three easy party-ready hairdos you can add to your holiday rotation. Thanks, Ari!
