When Does Anthropologie Typically Have Sales?

Anthropologie tends to update its sale section on the weekends, so if you’ve got your eye on something specific I suggest checking on Friday or Saturday morning to see if the price has gone down. The retailer also has larger events centered around all the biggest shopping holidays—Memorial Day, Labor Day, Black Friday. Be sure to sign up for Anthro emails if you want to be informed about upcoming sale before the general public.

How I Chose the Best Anthropologie Dresses

The following styles are a mix of best sellers from the retailer and picks from PureWow’s most stylish editors. Of course, I also read through all the reviews to ensure these frocks are truly worth the splurge, so I feel confident there will be one (or maybe five) dresses you’re bound to love.

Don’t Sleep on Gap’s Spring Picks—Here Are 16 I’m Eyeing

Best Overall Anthropologie Dress

1. Exquise Tobie Button-Front Pleated Shirt Dress

What We Like

  • two side pockets
  • functional buttons down the front
  • lots of color options

What We Don’t Like

  • dry clean recommended

Exquise

This shirt dress checks so many boxes, I barely know where to begin. The pleated silhouette is both flattering and comfortable, and I really appreciate the fact that the buttons down the front are fully functional, so you can do a higher slit or lower-cut neckline for the weekends, or button all the way up for a day at the office. It also has pockets (practically a requirement for a great everyday dress) and the fabric is lightweight with just enough stretch to hug your waist without constricting movement. As an added bonus, it also comes in petite lengths, plus sizes and with adaptive design elements (like magnetic snaps in place of the buttons and an adjustable hem). My only gripe? This stunner is dry clean only.

FAST FACTS

  • Size Range: XXS to 3X, also Petite
  • Materials: cotton/polyester/elastane blend
  • Care Instructions: dry clean

Best Textured Anthropologie Dress

2. Endless Rose Sleeveless Textured Midi Dress

What We Like

  • lots of color options
  • great for weddings
  • lightweight material

What We Don’t Like

  • no plus sizes
  • no petite sizes
  • reportedly runs small

Endless Rose

I first stumbled upon this gorgeous textured midi on Nuuly, the clothing rental service from Anthro’s parent company URBN, and knew immediately it would get added to my next order. And reader? It did not disappoint. It comes in a whole range of gorgeous colors to fit your vibes (I opted for a bright pink hue), and the fabric offers a great balance between structure and stretch, holding you in where you want while still allowing for plenty of movement. And the fact that the liner is shorter than the outer layer plays right into the current sheer skirt trend. Just know, it does run a bit small, other reviewers agree, so you might want to go up one from your usual size when ordering.

FAST FACTS

  • Size Range: XS to XL
  • Materials: polyester
  • Care Instructions: hand wash

Best Anthropologie Dress for Summer

3. Maeve Keiko Mini Dress

What We Like

  • two side pockets
  • bra friendly
  • comfortable silhouette

What We Don’t Like

  • may be too short for taller frames
  • few color options

Maeve

Once peak summer hits, all I want to wear is tent dresses that maximize air flow. This adorable mini has the added benefit of being flattering too, and I’m not the only person who thinks so. With more than 120 5-star reviews, this frock is bound to become one of your go-to warm weather staples. The scoop in back is chic, comfortable and, best of all, bra friendly, and there are two deep pockets on the sides for stowing your essentials. Fingers crossed Anthro releases a few solid hues soon to add to my collection.

FAST FACTS

  • Size Range: XXS to 3X, also Petite
  • Materials: cotton with modal lining
  • Care Instructions: machine wash

4. Anthropologie Peregrine Midi Dress

What We Like

  • two side pockets
  • bra-friendly
  • fully lined
  • machine washable

What We Don’t Like

  • may be too long for petite frames
  • tends to sell out quickly

Anthropologie

With a ruched bodice, ruffled trims and delicate buttons down the front, the Peregrine midi dress screams ‘romance’ in all the best ways. It can be dressed up for cocktails or a semi-formal wedding reception, or down with simple sandals and a crossbody for weekend hangs. And the V-neckline isn’t so low as to make it feel inappropriate for work, either. Reviewers do say it runs a smidge big, but if you have a larger bust you’ll likely be happy sticking with your usual size rather than sizing up.

FAST FACTS

  • Size Range: XXS to 3X, also Petite
  • Materials: cotton with modal lining
  • Care Instructions: machine wash

5. Siempre Michelle Midi Dress

What We Like

  • machine washable
  • pullover styling
  • trendy silhouette

What We Don’t Like

  • no pockets
  • only one color option

Siempre

Black and white dresses with a drop waist have become a must-have item for summer 2025, but I really love this spin on the trend. The exaggerated scallop detail around the waist adds a ton of interest while also being more flattering than a straight line. The top is made of a stretchy material that has a decent amount of heft to it, while the skirt is much lighter and flowier. And the high neckline makes this midi incredibly versatile, too. As for sizing, reviewers generally agree it’s best to stick with your usual size.

FAST FACTS

  • Size Range: XXS to 3X, also Petite
  • Materials: viscose/nylon blend bodice, rayon/nylon blend skirt
  • Care Instructions: machine wash

Best Preppy Anthropologie Dress

6. Anthropologie Short-Sleeve Belted Shirt Dress

What We Like

  • built-in belt
  • machine washable
  • reportedly fits true to size

What We Don’t Like

  • may be too short for taller frames

Anthropologie

I won’t lie, I’ve been thinking about this dress for weeks and think it might just finally be time to add it to my wardrobe for real. The built-in belt is just so chic and I love that it’s fully adjustable so better fit the shape of your torso. And the hourglass silhouette is flirty and fun without feeling too sexy, thanks to the light-blue cotton fabric and shirt collar neckline. Reviewers do say the hem is fairly short (the dress falls 35.25 inches from the shoulder), but otherwise it fits true to size. I only wish it had pockets, but I think I can excuse the oversight for such an adorable frock.

FAST FACTS

  • Size Range: XXS to 3X, also Petite
  • Materials: cotton
  • Care Instructions: machine wash

Best Anthropologie Mini Dress

7. Anthropologie Pollie Swing Tunic Mini Dress

What We Like

  • machine washable
  • length works well on taller frames
  • comfortable silhouette
  • two side pockets

What We Don’t Like

  • ironing or steaming recommended after washing

Anthropologie

Another mini I haven’t stopped thinking about lately, the Pollie shirtdress is surprisingly flattering given its tent-like silhouette. I tried it on recently in store and found the length was actually really nice on my 5’9” frame. And the flow of the fabric, while definitely oversize, did not feel frumpy, perhaps because of the structured collar and sleeves up top. In fact, despite the roomy body, I’d definitely advise sticking with your usual size to ensure the shoulders fit correctly without being too snug.

  • Size Range: XXS to 3X, also Petite

Best Anthropologie Dress for Weddings

8. English Factory Off-the-Shoulder Dress

What We Like

  • super-comfortable fabric
  • can be dressed up or down
  • reportedly fits true to size

What We Don’t Like

  • not available in petite sizes
  • not available in plus sizes

English Factory

On the hunt for a summer wedding guest dress that’s comfortable, flattering and won’t break the bank? I’ve got you. This English Factory midi comes in four chic colors (though I’d skip the white if you plan on wearing it to a wedding), and is made of a super-soft fabric that has ample stretch. It also has a subtle pebbled texture to add interest, and I like that the sleeves cover a bit more of the upper arm than similar styles. This dress is also wonderfully easy to pack and won’t wrinkle on route to whatever fun events you have in store.

FAST FACTS

  • Size Range: XS to L
  • Materials: polyester/elastane blend
  • Care Instructions: hand wash

Best Anthropologie Shirt Dress

9. Maeve Bettina Tiered Shirt Dress

What We Like

  • designed with adaptive features for those with disabilities
  • comfortable silhouette

What We Don’t Like

  • few color options
  • may be too long for petite frames

Maeve

This best-selling shirt dress comes in a range of vibrant patterns, but I’m partial to this geometric green print, which easily goes with a wide range of neutral hues as well as other brights. Reviews suggest this frock runs large, so you may want to size down from your usual, especially if you’re petite. (That said, the material does not have much stretch, so if you have a bigger bust, you might actually be more comfortable in your regular size.) Otherwise, it seems the lightweight cotton fabric and breezy, elegant silhouette are major hits, making the Bettina dress a clear must-have for summer.

FAST FACTS

  • Size Range: XXS to 3X, also Petite and Adaptive
  • Materials: cotton
  • Care Instructions: machine wash

PureWow Reader Favorite Anthropologie Dress

10. Anthropologie The Somerset Maxi Dress

What We Like

  • beet-selling style
  • lots of color and print options
  • bra-friendly
  • two side pockets

What We Don’t Like

  • tends to sell out quickly

Anthropologie

The Somerset collection includes some of the highest-rated dresses Anthropologie has to offer. There’s just something about that V-neck and flounced sleeve that hits just about everyone in exactly the right spot. There are now multiple versions of the flouncy silhouette to shop, but I still recommend coming back to the original design. The cotton fabric is lightweight and breathable—ideal for summer—and the smocked waist can stretch along with you so you won’t feel pinched in at your waist. It also has pockets for you to stow your wallet and phone or some SPF and snacks. There’s only one potential negative, really: The neckline is fixed, meaning there are no buttons or snaps, so if you find the cut a bit too low for your taste, you’re best bet is to use a safety pin or brooch to pin it closed.

  • Size Range: XXS to 3X, also Petite
  • Materials: cotton

Best Anthropologie Dress for Vacation

11. Farm Rio Scalloped Shirt Dress

What We Like

  • button-up design
  • two front pockets
  • machine washable

What We Don’t Like

  • no plus sizes
  • no petite sizes

Farm Rio

This simple shirtdress is obviously a fabulous choice for summer travel, not just because of that stamp-inspired print, but also because it can easily double as a tunic or even a poolside cover-up. It’s made of a lightweight, breathable linen/viscose blend and the buttons down the front are all fully functional. There are also two side-slit pockets for stowing your essentials on the go. Because of the straight up-and-down silhouette, I recommend taking your largest measurement, whether it’s your bust or your hips, and choosing your size based off that. This way, you ensure the fabric flows nicely without tugging and you can focus on more important things like reapplying your SPF or choosing the best souvenir to bring home.

FAST FACTS

  • Size Range: XXS to XL
  • Materials: linen/viscose blend
  • Care Instructions: machine wash

Most Flattering Anthropologie Dress

12. Maeve Hailey Pintuck Midi Dress

What We Like

  • bra-friendly
  • machine washable
  • super-flattering silhouette

What We Don’t Like

  • few color options
  • no pockets

Maeve

Are you also obsessed with butter yellow? The dreamy pastel hue has been popping up literally everywhere, so I expect this stunning midi is likely to sell out quickly. (It also comes in black for the gal who prefers a more timeless neutral.) The pleating at the waist is such a flattering and comfortable way to fake an hourglass figure, and the neckline is just deep enough to feel sexy without going too low. And the keyhole in back is a fabulous added touch to make this dress feel even more luxe.

FAST FACTS

  • Size Range: XXS to 3X, also Petite
  • Materials: cotton
  • Care Instructions: machine wash

Best Anthropologie Cover-Up

13. Celandine Plunge-Neck Linen Blend Maxi Dress

What We Like

  • dries quickly
  • roomy fit
  • machine washable
  • two side pockets

What We Don’t Like

  • few color options
  • no plus sizes
  • no petite sizes

Celandine

My favorite swimsuit cover-ups are those that can double as a breezy dress, if not all the time then at least for a post-beach ice cream run or dinner on the pier. This maxi definitely qualifies thanks to the linen/viscose blend fabric which dries quickly, doesn’t appear sheer and offers maximum breathability. It also has adjustable ties on the side as a fun finishing touch, and has pockets on the hips. Reviewers say this dress definitely runs large, but some still suggested getting your usual size to ensure the shoulders fit well and just embrace the ultra-roomy, billowing silhouette.

FAST FACTS

  • Size Range: XXS to XL
  • Materials: linen/viscose blend
  • Care Instructions: machine wash

Editor’s Pick Anthropologie Dress

14. En Elly Lace Mini Babydoll Dress

What We Like

  • breezy silhouette
  • can be dressed up or down

What We Don’t Like

  • may be too short for taller frames
  • delicate detailing

En Elly

A crisp white dress for spring/summer is an annual buy for me, and this one ticks so many boxes. It’s got a touch of sheer (the crochet sections), a comfy swing shape and comes in petite, regular and plus sizes. I’d wear it with sneakers, but also on a fancy dinner date, and could even layer it over some ankle-length black trousers for a ‘60s vibe in fall. One important thing to keep in mind, however, is that gorgeous crochet detailing at the top—the delicate fabric should be hand washed with care, so be sure to stay clear of red wine or black coffee when in use.

FAST FACTS

  • Size Range: XXS to XL, also Petite
  • Materials: 50 percent cotton, 40 percent polyester, 10 percent not listed
  • Care Instructions: hand wash
