Some people wear heels to the Venice Film Festival, but Amanda Seyfried proved that sneakers get the job done, too.

During the days-long festival, which requires just as many water taxi rides as it does photo ops, the actress slipped into Cariuma's cool and casual OCA Low white leather sneakers ($159), which have long been a popular choice among sneaker lovers for their minimalist design, eco-friendly materials and, of course, prime comfort. In fact, Seyfried thought the kicks were so nice, she wore them twice, pairing them with a pink knit set and matching blazer for one event, and a skort and white ruffled top for another.

So, what is it exactly about these sneakers that makes them so beloved? Per the brand, they’re made from buttery soft and LWG-certified premium pebbled leather, which, according to buyers, holds up well over time. There’s also the versatility factor, as, like Seyfried displayed, they can be dressed up or down with ease. The style also lives up to the promise of comfort, per shoppers, one of whom writes, "Love these sneakers! Super comfortable and easy to slip in and out of."

They even have a stamp of approval from PureWow editors, like former commerce editor Olivia Dubyak, who wrote of the canvas version, "Even the first couple days of wear (sans socks), I was pleasantly surprised that the back of the shoes didn't bother my heels at all. Sure, the heel tab rubs against my foot occasionally, but even then, I haven't experienced any irritation."

She continued, "For having a rubber sole, they're remarkably lightweight to wear, which I wasn't expecting...The insole is made of a lightweight cork, bio memory foam and mamona oil, so even if my feet are sweaty, they don't slip around inside."

And given their slip-resistant rubber outsole, it's no wonder Seyfried grabbed these to make her Venice boat-hopping excursions run as smoothly as possible. No slips or trips here, people! That said, I’m completely sold on these bad boys, which come in a slew of other colors and materials fit for everyone's tastes.
