This Drew Barrymore Movie Is Now #7 on Netflix & It Looks Like Ridiculous Good Fun

This brand-new Netflix movie is giving us major Parent Trap vibes…with a Drew Barrymore twist.

The Stand In just hit the streaming service over the weekend, and it’s already claimed the number seven spot on Netflix’s list of most-watched films. (It’s currently ranked behind Thunder Force, The Little Rascals, Sniper: Ghost Shooter, Legally Blonde, What Lies Below and Concrete Cowboy.)

Drew Barrymore portrays not one, but two lead characters. First, there’s Candy Black, a C-list actress who’s sent to rehab for income tax evasion. In an attempt to save her career, she enlists her former stand-in, Paula (also played by Barrymore), to take her place and assume her identity. Of course, hilarity ensues.

In addition to Barrymore, The Stand In stars Michael Zegen (Steve), Charlie Barnett (Simon), Ellie Kemper (Jenna), Holland Taylor (Barbara), T.J. Miller (Louis), Andrew Rannells (Nico), Lena Dunham (Lisa), Adrian Martinez (Reporter Banjo), Michelle Buteau (Ingrid), Richard Kind (Wes) and Dolly Wells (Daisy).

The movie also features several celebrities playing themselves, including Graham Norton, Bridget Everett, Jimmy Fallon, Savannah Guthrie, Meghan McCain, Andy Cohen, Giuliana Rancic, Jason Kennedy, Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest.

The Stand In was originally supposed to premiere at the 2020 Tribeca Film Festival, but it was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
