Guys, I have finally hopped on The Residence bandwagon, and if you haven’t already, it’s time to get in on the action. Sometimes when there’s a lot of hype surrounding a movie or a television show, I get a little skeptical because, well, the hype isn't always deserved. Not the case here. The Residence is the real deal, which is exactly why it’s still on Netflix’s ten shows list (in the eighth spot, to be exact) more than a month after its release—quite the impressive feat.

The series stars Uzo Aduba as a quirky detective tasked with solving a murder at the White House. The “whodunnit” element combined with the eccentricity of some of the characters/suspects makes this show something of a 2020s version of Clue. Aside from the suspense/mystery components, this show is also quite comical, making it an enjoyable watch. Aduba shines bright as the lead, but I also have to call out Giancarlo Esposito, as he delivers a riveting performance as the White House Chief Usher.

Aside from what I think, The Residence has been favorably received amongst many, holding an 85 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. “I found this show to be wonderful. I loved the quirky detective, who knows bird watching to be a sport of observation as well as patience. The actress did a perfect job. It took me until the second episode to get enthralled in the many characters. I liked the entire show and binge watched the first season! Cannot wait for another season!”

In fact, Greta Heggeness, PureWow's former Senior Editor of News and Entertainment, had this to say in her review: "One of my favorite parts about The Residence is the spot-on balance between comedy and drama. The plot itself is dramatic and mysterious, but the writers still found ways to incorporate humor whenever possible. Right when things are getting serious, one of the characters breaks the ice with a funny line I can’t help but laugh at. It’s done in a masterful way where the comedy doesn’t take away from the whodunnit tale—instead, it complements the serious tone and heightens the mystery element."

Bring on season two please!
