In case you missed it, there's a new psychological thriller quietly dominating Prime Video’s Top 10 list and it’s so much better than you'd expect. The series, called The Girlfriend, dropped on September 10 and even though I’m only a few episodes in, I need to talk about it. Because for some reason… no one else really is.

Let’s start with the basics: What’s The Girlfriend all about?

This six-episode miniseries is a tense psychological thriller based on Michelle Frances’ bestselling novel and directed by Robin Wright and Andrea Harkin. It follows Laura (Wright), a successful career woman with a loving husband and a son she adores. But her perfect life begins to unravel when her son, Daniel, brings home a new girlfriend—Cherry (Olivia Cooke).

At first, Cherry seems sweet. But Laura quickly becomes convinced she’s hiding something darker. Is Cherry a manipulative social climber? Or is Laura just spiraling into paranoia? The truth is… complicated and that’s what makes the show so addictive.

Now, no spoilers here (I’m only a few episodes deep) but after attempting to fall down a rabbit hole of X reactions and Reddit threads, I had to ask: Why is no one talking about this show? Although there wasn't much to search through, I did notice that those who were chatting about the show were obsessed.

One user wrote, “The Girlfriend on Prime is F***ING GOOD and why is no one talking about it??” Another posted, “Just finished The Girlfriend on Prime, now that was REAL TV. Absolute 10/10!!” A third chimed in, “Can’t stop thinking about how good The Girlfriend was on Prime. Every episode had me GRIPPED.”

And apparently, the ending will blow your mind. One person teased, “Just finished The Girlfriend on Prime and all I can say is Oh. My. God.”

Critics seem to agree, too. The Girlfriend debuted with a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes and is currently sitting at 88%, which is still pretty impressive.

So if you’re looking for a juicy, twisty binge with stellar performances (Olivia Cooke is phenomenal), all six episodes of The Girlfriend are streaming now on Prime Video.
