This Netflix Drama Is So Good, I’m Mad I Didn’t Watch It Sooner

There are already two seasons & another on the way

With the nonstop stream of new movies, TV shows and everything in between, it can feel nearly impossible to keep track of what’s actually worth watching. That’s where Netflix’s Top 10 comes in handy, along with, you know, being chronically online. You usually don’t have to scroll for too long before figuring out what everyone is talking about, which is exactly why I was genuinely shocked that I hadn’t watched Netflix’s The Gentlemen sooner.

For starters, The Gentlemen is a series created by Guy Ritchie and based on his 2019 film of the same name. The black comedy crime drama follows an aristocratic soldier who unexpectedly inherits a massive cannabis empire, with Theo James leading the cast.

The first season premiered in March 2024 and was renewed for a second season just a few months later. It quickly earned rave reviews from both critics and audiences, along with several award nominations, including nods from the Golden Globes and Primetime Emmys.

Season two arrived September 3, and before its release, the series was already renewed for season three. There were even rumors that Meghan Markle could make her return to acting with the show, (which Theo hilariously responded to).

I’ll admit, I’d heard whispers about The Gentlemen, especially around award season. Every time I spotted it on Netflix, I’d pause for a second and think, “Should I watch this?” But it wasn’t until I heard Michele Morrone had joined the cast that I finally decided to see what all the hype was about. And yeah, I was very far from disappointed.

The show is packed with quippy, snarky dialogue, sharp banter and plenty of humor, all wrapped in Ritchie’s signature style. Think fast-paced British comedy, high-energy editing, chaotic crime and, of course, an impeccably dressed ensemble cast.

About 20 minutes into the first episode, I was hooked and asking myself, "Why was I so hesitant to press play before?" But hey, better late than never.

The good news? The first two seasons are already streaming, and now I get to look forward to season three.

Stream The Gentlemen now on Netflix.
