‘The Bachelor’ Failed Grant Ellis as a Lead—& Here’s Why

He deserves better

Grant Ellis’s contestants gathered one last time last night for The Women Tell All episode for The Bachelor season 29. To no surprise, Carolina stole the show (once again) and made herself the center of attention. Her scene-stealing tendencies got me thinking about this season and how it impacted Grant’s journey. And now, I’m fully convinced ABC made a major mistake by focusing more on the women and less on the lead.

I’m not saying that Grant was overshadowed by the women. However, this is the first time where I feel like I barely know the lead going into the finale. Sure, Grant is hard to read and takes a while to open up. But there was so much other drama going on this season that most of his conversations revolved around keeping the peace among the women, rather than highlighting his best assets.

There’s a good chance that Grant is a completely different person when the cameras aren’t rolling. But he was forced to be the “bad guy” due to drama that was out of his control. The question is: Is this fair to Grant?

Only time will tell. If Grant has a happily ever after ending, then maybe Carolina will just be one small speed bump in his love story. But if the women aren’t ready for a proposal, they’ll likely blame it on Carolina and how her behavior impacted their ability to get to know Grant.

Fingers crossed it all works out.
