Now that Ted Lasso has aired its season three finale, we can’t help but wonder what’s next for the comedy show. Although the titular character (played by Jason Sudeikis) returned to Kansas and seemingly ended his AFC Richmond journey, fans are wondering if there’s more story to tell. For example, is there a way for Apple TV+ to continue Ted Lasso without—dare we say—Ted Lasso?

Unfortunately, the future of the show is still unknown. While some actors penned “farewell” messages on Instagram following the season three finale, Apple TV+ hasn’t announced whether the latest installment will be the show’s last. And as Rachel Bowie (PureWow’s Senior Director of Special Projects & Royals) pointed out in her finale reaction, the streamer referred to the last episode as a season finale, not a series finale.

Our suspicions regarding the theory that a season four without Ted might occur continued to grow when we saw the above Twitter exchange between Apple TV+ and Nick Mohammed (who plays Nathan “Nate” Shelley). The streamer shared a photo of Nate, Roy (Brett Goldstein) and Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt) with the caption, “Smells like potential.”

Mohammed, 42, retweeted the photo and added a zipper-mouth face emoji, hinting he knows something that fans don’t. So, will Apple TV+ pursue a Ted-less fourth season? Or will the streamer develop a spin-off series starring the remaining characters?

One could argue that Ted Lasso shouldn’t continue with a fourth installment because season three was wrapped up so nicely. But that would ignore the fact that there’s still more story to tell regarding Rebecca’s (Hannah Waddingham) new beau, Keeley’s (Juno Temple) women’s team and Roy’s Richmond promotion. Don’t even get us started on Coach Beard and Jane’s (Phoebe Walsh) wedding.

Apple TV+ hasn’t addressed the future of Ted Lasso (at least not yet). But if this Tweet is any indication, it seems there will be more AFC Richmond in our future.
