Everything We Know About Netflix's Upcoming Thriller, ‘Stay Close’

If you're a sucker for dark thrillers that keep you on the edge of your seat, then you may want to consider adding Netflix's Stay Close to your queue.

The streaming platform confirmed in October that they are teaming up with RED Production Company for the new drama thriller series, noting that it will be an adaptation of Harlan Coben’s bestselling novel of the same name. Better yet, Stay Close comes from the creators of Netflix's The Stranger (also based on Cohen's work), and the series already has a pretty impressive cast.

After sharing the news on Twitter, Netflix hinted at the show's theme and said, "Everything crossed for more insane twists and farm animals named after boybands." Not surprisingly, fans proceeded to freak out in the comments. But what exactly is this show about, and when can fans expect the release? Read on for more details.

1. What Is 'stay Close' About?

Stay Close is an eight-part drama thriller that follows three main characters, including Broome, a detective, Megan, a working mother and Ray, a struggling photographer. All three characters harbor very dark secrets. But when someone from Meghan's past reappears with some bad news, those secrets come back to haunt them.

While discussing Harlan's work, which inspired the series, Nicola Shindler said in a statement, "There is a real appetite for contained dramas, and Harlan is an absolute master of keeping the audience guessing and gripped to the edge of their seats with his incredible storytelling."

2. Who's In The Cast Of 'stay Close'?

The main cast includes James Nesbitt as Broome, Cush Jumbo as Megan and Richard Armitage as Ray. Other cast members include Sarah Parish, Eddie Izzard, Daniel Francis, Bethany Antonia, Andi Osho, Poppy Gilbert and Hyoie O’Grady.

3. Is There A Trailer?

There's no trailer yet, but we do know that production will begin in Spring 2021, which means the release will most likely be in 2022.

Also, it looks like table-readings are already underway, since Cohen recently gave fans an inside look at the process. He wrote, "We had a wonderful table read for Stay Close for @netflix @netflixuk, albeit surreal to only be there on zoom and others responsibly set up in pods."

Here's hoping this series will just as riveting as The Stranger.
