This Mark Wahlberg Movie Just Hit Netflix’s Top 10 and ‘Intense’ Doesn’t Even Begin to Describe it

It’s been over a year since Netflix released Mark Wahlberg’s film, Spenser Confidential. And now, the action-comedy has officially landed a spot on the streaming platform’s top ten movies list.

Loosely inspired by Ace Atkins’s best-selling novel, “Wonderland,” the film (which debuted March 6, 2020) centers around an ex-cop who teams up with his no-nonsense roommate to hunt down criminals that may be involved in the murder conspiracy of two Boston police officers. And this one’s all about the action.

Watch the full trailer below and you’ll see what we mean.

Netflix’s official synopsis reads, “Spenser—an ex-cop better known for making trouble than solving it—just got out of prison and is leaving Boston for good. But first, he gets roped into helping his old boxing coach and mentor, Henry, with a promising amateur. That's Hawk, a brash, no-nonsense MMA fighter convinced he'll be a tougher opponent than Spenser ever was. When two of Spenser’s former colleagues turn up murdered, he recruits Hawk and his foul-mouthed ex-girlfriend, Cissy, to help him investigate and bring the culprits to justice.”

Directed by Peter Berg, Spenser Confidential also stars Winston Duke (Avengers: Infinity War), Iliza Shlesinger (Pieces of a Woman), Alan Arkin (Little Miss Sunshine), Bokeem Woodbine (Spider-Man: Homecoming) and Marc Maron (Almost Famous). Oh, and we can't forget to mention that Post Malone also makes an appearance.

Even though it only got a 37 percent critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, we’re giving this one a shot simply because we love a good Marky-Mark flick.
