6 Shows That Were Just Renewed for Season 2

Finally some good news...

We all deserve a little good streaming news right now (especially after four fan-favorite shows were canceled this month). Fortunately, six buzzy shows that debuted this year have been picked up for a second season—and fans (myself included) couldn't be happier.

While we will have to say goodbye to Christopher Meloni and Law & Order: Organized Crime, we can say hello to more Dan Levy in Big Mistakes, Elle Fanning in Margo's Got Money Troubles, Chase Infiniti in The Testaments and more.

Here, six shows that were renewed for season two in May. (Cue the applause.)

1. Big Mistakes

Dan Levy, Taylor Ortega and Laurie Metcalf were an unstoppable comedic trio in season one of Big Mistakes on Netflix, and they're all expected to return for season two. For those who haven't seen yet, Levy plays a pastor whose sister (Ortega) gets them both into hot water with some pretty bad guys while their often-yelling mother (Metcalf) runs for mayor. I'm so excited we'll be getting more of this funny show—especially after that big twist at the end of season one.

2. The Testaments

This Chase Infiniti and Ann Dowd-led follow-up series to The Handmaid's Tale will thankfully be back for more. The news arrived just this week, before the full first season has even finished airing. It shouldn't be a massive surprise that we're getting more Gilead as The Testaments season one has already surpassed a huge milestone: 45 million hours streamed.

3. Margo's Got Money Troubles

Consider me pumped for more Margo and company. News of season two dropped right before the season one finale aired, with an AppleTV exec saying, “We’re excited to watch Margo and the entire family continue to defy the odds in season two, in the way only they can, with humor, determination, and creativity.” Though the next iteration will extend beyond the show's source material, a novel from Rufi Thorpe, show creators have said Thorpe has shared ideas about what comes next for Margo, which will be incorporated into the new episodes.

4. Scrubs (the Reboot)

Finally, a reboot that works. The far-from-serious staff at Sacred Heart Hospital will be back for a follow-up season of the renewed series this fall (man, these doctors work fast!). Ratings were high from the get-go with the new Scrubs (11 million people watched the premiere of the revival) so it was likely just a matter of time before ABC gave it the official season two green light. Things ended with a major health twist for Dr. Cox, so we'll likely get more of that—along with Turk and J.D.'s antics—in the next installment.

5. The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins

I was more surprised than anyone to have enjoyed this show as much as I did. In fact, it was one of my favorite five shows to debut in February 2026. Tracy Morgan plays a character quite like 30 Rock's Tracy Jordan (who is very like reality's Tracy Morgan) alongside Erika Alexander, Bobby Moynihan and Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe. The show is seriously funny and just plain fun to watch, so I'm thrilled it'll be returning in late 2026 or early 2027.

6. R.J. Decker

Okay, Felicity fans: were you Team Ben (Scott Speedman) or Team Noel (Scott Foley)? Well, it doesn't matter, because Speedman's won this round as his new series R.J. Decker has been picked up for a season two by ABC. The show follows a disgraced photographer who tries to rebuild his life as a private investigator after being released from prison. This show could have gone either way with renewal (what people in the biz call being "on the bubble"), but the network ultimately decided it was worthy of more episodes.
