When it comes to Netflix’s Top 10 chart, the lineup is constantly shifting. One day, an old-school classic claims a top spot and the next, a buzzy psychological thriller takes over. But every so often, a film comes along that not only cracks the Top 10, it stays there. Past examples include The Waterfront (that cancellation still stings) and the wildly popular K-Pop Demon Hunters. And now, we’ve got a new name to add to the list: Ruth & Boaz.

Produced by Tyler Perry and DeVon Franklin, Ruth & Boaz is a modern-day reimagining of one of the most iconic love stories in the Bible. Set in Tennessee, the 90-minute film follows Ruth, a young woman who leaves behind Atlanta’s intense music scene to care for an elderly widow. In the process, she finds unexpected healing, love and a maternal bond she’s never known.

The film boasts a standout cast, led by Empire alum Serayah as Ruth and Tyler Lepley, known for his roles in Prime Video’s Harlem and Starz’s P-Valley, plays Boaz, while the legendary Phylicia Rashad takes on the role of Naomi. (Yes, that Phylicia Rashad—from The Cosby Show, Creed, The Gilded Age and many many more).

And the talent doesn’t stop there. The supporting cast includes Walnette Santiago, Nijah Brenea, Jeames Lee Thomas, Lecrae Moore, Yung Joc and Jermaine Dupri, with a surprise cameo from 13-time Grammy winner Babyface.

Ruth & Boaz arrived on Netflix on September 26 and quickly climbed to the top of the streamer’s charts. Judging by the online buzz, it’s not going anywhere anytime soon.

“This movie touched my heart and filled me with emotions,” one viewer wrote in a Google review. Another added, “One of the best movies I’ve ever seen—watched it twice in two days and will watch again.” A third summed it up perfectly: it “invokes true emotions.”

In other words, Ruth & Boaz is a hit and it's hitting people right in the feels. Stream it now on Netflix.
