If you’re even remotely into reality TV, you already know the genre is basically a buffet at this point. It's full of dating chaos, cooking battles, strategy games, social experiments… you name it, it probably exists. And while I’ve definitely dabbled in more of them than I care to admit, it’s rare for a new series to genuinely pull me in and keep me talking about it after the credits roll. Enter Netflix’s Million Dollar Secret. A show that not only caught my attention but somehow turned me into the person recommending it to basically anyone who will listen. And judging by its previous spot in Netflix’s Top 10, I’m very much not alone.

For the uninitiated, Million Dollar Secret is a reality competition set at a lakeside estate in British Columbia called The Stag. The premise? One of the players is secretly handed $1 million at the start of the game and no one knows who it is. From there, things get messy in the best way.

Each episode features two challenges. In the first, the hidden millionaire has to complete a secret mission without getting caught. If they pull it off, they earn advantages to help protect their identity.

The second challenge is more group-focused, where contestants compete for clues about who’s secretly holding the money. After that, it’s time for the classic reality TV pressure cooker: everyone votes out the person they suspect is the millionaire.

It’s the kind of format that hits a sweet spot of twisty enough to keep you engaged, but not so convoluted that you need a flowchart to follow along. If you’re into shows like The Traitors or The Mole, this is absolutely in your wheelhouse.

Season two recently finished airing, and honestly, it's even better than the first.

The players are sharper now, clearly having studied season one like it’s a final exam, which makes the strategy feel way more intense. At this point, a third season feels less like a question and more like a foregone conclusion.

Until Netflix makes it official, both seasons of Million Dollar Secret are streaming now.
