Just Me, Or Does 'Too Much' Star Megan Stalter Look Strangely Familiar?

She was in a massive HBO show

A new hidden gem just dropped on Netflix, and honestly, I’m kind of confused about how it hasn’t cracked the streamer’s coveted Top 10 yet. The show? Too Much—a chaotic, cringey and surprisingly heartfelt comedy created by Lena Dunham and Luis Felber. (Spoiler alert: I loved it. Full review here.)

While bingeing, I couldn’t help but notice the constant stream of familiar faces popping up in nearly every scene. From Michael Zegen (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) to model-turned-actress Emily Ratajkowski to Broadway fave Andrew Rannells (A Simple Favor). It was giving “Wait, where do I know them from?” energy nonstop.

But let’s talk about the star of the show: Megan Stalter.

In Too Much, Megan plays Jessica, a heartbroken 30-something New Yorker who, in peak post-breakup fashion, impulsively relocates to London to escape her messy feelings (relatable). She’s chaotic, hilarious and impossible to look away from—but if you’re wondering why she looks so familiar, you’re not alone.

You might recognize Megan from her standout role in the award-winning HBO Max series Hacks, where, for four seasons, she's plays Kayla, the wildly entitled (but weirdly lovable) assistant to a talent agent.

Hacks, by the way, has won multiple Emmys and even a Golden Globe—so yes, Megan’s been doing big things.

She’s also appeared in the 2023 comedy Please Don’t Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain, National Lampoon Radio Hour and episodes of #1 Happy Family USA and Crank Yankers. Oh, and she’s made cameos in music videos for artists like Fergie and Kacey Musgraves, in case you were still wondering why her face was so familiar.

So if you, like me, found yourself squinting at the screen mid-episode thinking, Where do I know her from?, consider the mystery solved.

Megan Stalter’s been booked, busy and hilarious for a while now.
