Could you, like, chill for a sec? It has now been confirmed that a Freaky Friday sequel is in the works and our former child self is seriously losing it over here.

This week, Lindsay Lohan appeared on SiriusXM's Andy Cohen Live and confirmed that she and Jamie Lee Curtis are ready to reprise their roles as mother and daughter Tess and Anna Coleman.

“I don't want to say too much," she said. “And we’re both excited. I’m gonna speak for Jamie.”

When asked for more details—including a premiere date—Lohan played coy. “I won’t say that yet,” she added.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about a potential follow-up film. Back in May 2023, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Disney is working on the sequel, with Elyse Hollander hired to write the script (the first film was penned by Heather Hach and Leslie Dixon).

Both stars had previously expressed their interest in a sequel. During an interview at the 2023 Producers Guild Awards, Curtis was asked about the potential of a Freaky Friday 2, to which the 65-year-old star responded, “It’s going to happen.”

She continued, “Without saying there’s anything officially happening, I’m looking at you in this moment and saying, ‘Of course it’s going to happen.’ It’s going to happen.”

It's been more than two decades since Freaky Friday (2003) was released, and it seems both are very on board for a follow-up.

Back in November 2022, Lohan made a special appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote her Netflix movie Falling for Christmas

During the interview, Fallon asked her if there had ever been talks of a possible Freaky Friday 2. And wouldn’t you know? Lohan admitted that she has already discussed the idea with Curtis.

“We did speak about it, yeah,” Lohan said. “Let’s just take the fact that I was on set filming at the time, and Jamie Lee Curtis writes, and you just get excited and distracted immediately, so I had to bring myself down to Earth and be like, ‘I’m on set, I have to focus.’ Then she said Freaky Friday 2, and I got more excited.”

Fallon asked whether or not they would be open to appearing in a sequel and Lohan simply responded, “We’d both be into it.”

Based on Mary Rodgers’s 1972 novel, Freaky Friday follows a mother and her teenage daughter after they switch bodies and live each other's lives.

First, Lohan's big return on Netflix and now this? Looks like Lindsay really is back!
